There are several Break and Enters that could be related, all in the Area of Ohio in Shelburne County, From Lower Ohio, Middle Ohio, Upper Ohio and Indian Fields. As a result of an investigation, suspects were identified but grounds were not established to arrest anyone.

Police investigating bank robbery- Dutch Village Road

Police are investigating a robbery at a Halifax Bank that occurred earlier today.

At approximately 12 p.m. police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Bank of Nova Scotia located at 3480 Dutch Village Road. A man entered the bank said he had a gun and demanded money from the teller. The suspect then fled on foot with an amount of money. There was no weapon seen and there were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man in his thirties to forties, slim build, 5’’8” with short hair. He was wearing jeans and a black winter jacket with fur on the hood.

Police searching for robbery suspect 

Police are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a robbery that occurred in Halifax this evening. 

At approximately 7:45 p.m. police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Sobeys Smoke Shop located at 287 Lacewood Drive.  A man entered the store, demanded money and then fled on foot with an amount of money.  There was no weapon seen and no reported injuries. 

The suspect is described as a white man in his fifties, 5’8” with grey hair.  He was wearing jeans and a black bomber-style winter jacket with fur on the hood. 

Police are investigating the possibility that this robbery is related to a similar incident reported earlier this date on Joseph Howe Drive.

Police seek public’s assistance in identifying a suspect

Police are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects in an assault that occurred last month in Halifax.

At approximately 5:15 p.m. on December 8 police responded to a report of a group of people fighting in the MacDonald’s parking lot located at 6982 Mumford Road. The suspects had left the area prior to police arrival.

While on scene police received a report that a man had been assaulted by a group of youths/young at the same location. The man and the group were involved in a verbal dispute when two of the members of the group assaulted him. The man attended the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The first suspect is described as a black man in his late teens or early twenties, approximately 5’10” with a thin build and wearing a reddish jacket.

The second is described as a black man in his late teens or early twenties approximately 5’6” with a thin build and wearing a dark jacket.

RCMP investigates shots fired

January 26, 2020, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is investigating a report of shots fired at a residence in Hammonds Plains.

At approximately 3 a.m. this morning, Halifax District RCMP received a complaint of gun shots being fired at a residence on White Hills Rn. Four occupants were inside the residence at the time but no one was injured. The residence was found to have minor damage.

Police do not believe this was a random act.

Police Investigate Weapons Call – Shooting

At 11:30 p.m. 26 January, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a male shot at Connaught Avenue / Chisholm Avenue, Halifax.  Multiple officers responded to the scene and located an adult male with life threatening injuries.  The investigation is in the early stages and the General Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.

Traffic Blocked:  All vehicle and pedestrian traffic on Connaught Avenue between Windsor Street and Regent Street and will remain closed for an extended period of time.

Police warn public of fraudulent phone calls

Halifax Regional Police would like to notify the public of a recent increase in calls where a scammer identifies themselves as a police officer or representative of the Canada Revenue Agency and advises the caller they must pay money, usually by forwarding gift card information, or converting cash to Bitcoin, to avoid prosecution.

A common theme of late is the scammer will advise the victim they have been identified as possessing a number of fraudulent bank accounts. They are told a warrant has been issued and the police may already be on their way to arrest them. To avoid being arrested they are given the option of paying, usually by one of the above noted means.

No police agency, nor the Canada Revenue Agency will ever make such phone calls. The callers in these cases are scammers. Do not provide or confirm any personal information to the caller and hang up the phone.

 January 22, 2020, Pleasantfield, Queens County, Nova Scotia . . . Members of Queens District RCMP were called to the scene of a suspicious fire at 749 Old Garden Rd. at 7 a.m. on January 20. When police arrived on scene, they discovered a small cabin fully engulfed in flames. Local volunteer firefighters were also on scene and were able to extinguish the fire. Nothing other than the cabin was damaged, however the cabin was completely destroyed. The building was unoccupied and no one was hurt.

 

The RCMP has determined the fire to be suspicious in nature. Police are requesting assistance from the public to provide information about the cause. Twelve firearms stolen from Kings County home

January 22, 2020, Aylesford, Nova Scotia . . . On January 20, Kings District RCMP responded to a call of a break and enter at a home on School House Rd. in Aylesford. When police arrived at the home, the victim told them that eight handguns and four AR-15 rifles had been stolen while the homeowner was out. All firearms had been properly secured and were stored in a locked gun safe. RCMP Forensic Identification Technicians are assisting with the investigation.
