RCMP investigates shooting

February 5, 2020, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia…The RCMP is investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old female with serious but non-life-threatening injuries on February 4.

At approximately 10:10 p.m., Yarmouth RCMP responded to a call about a possible gunshot victim. The victim was located inside a taxi on Main St. when the driver flagged down police out of concern for their passenger.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the member observed serious but non-life-threatening injuries to the passenger and she was transported to hospital by EHS.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim had been socializing with several people at a home on Cliff St. where she was shot. It is believed that the victim and the suspect are known to each other.

The investigation is ongoing and being led by Yarmouth Town RCMP with assistance from Yarmouth Town GIS, Yarmouth/Claire Street Crime Enforcement Unit and the Yarmouth County Detachment. Police Dog Services also assisted with the investigation.
