Police investigate suspicious circumstances in Downtown Halifax

Halifax Regional Police are investigating six reports of suspicious circumstances that occurred in Halifax in February and March.

Police received six reports from February 1 to March 4 of suspicious circumstances that occurred in the area of South Park and Brenton streets in Halifax. Investigators believe that a BB gun was used in five of the incidents: two involving damage to vehicles; two involving a person being struck; and one involving damage to a window pane. The sixth case involves damage to a vehicle where the cause is not known. Investigators are considering the possibility that all six incidents are related.

The investigations are ongoing by members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

Meteghan RCMP investigate after shots fired into home

March 8, 2021, Little Brook, Nova Scotia…Meteghan RCMP are asking for the public’s help after gunshots were fired into a home.

On March 7 at approximately 12:15 a.m., Meteghan RCMP responded to a complaint that two shots were fired through a window into a home on Little Brook Connector Rd. There were no injuries. A large dark-coloured pickup truck was then seen driving away immediately after.

Police do not believe that this is a random act.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police investigating theft of construction tools

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in relation to the investigation of a break and enter at a construction site in Halifax.

On February 17 police received a report of a break and enter that had occurred overnight at a construction site in the 7000 block of Mumford Road. The suspects broke into the area and stole approximately $20,000 worth of tools.

The suspects are described as men wearing work coveralls, work boots, hoodies and faces masks.

Police Investigate Arson – Bedford

At 11:15 p.m., on the 1st of March, Halifax Regional Police and HRM Fire & Emergency responded to a fire alarm inside an apartment building at 201 Rutledge Street Bedford.  Multiple callers reported smoke inside the building.  Numerous tenants evacuated the building.  HRM Fire & Emergency located a fire in a stairwell and quickly extinguished it.  No one was injured and all tenants were able to return to home.

Fire Investigators confirmed the fire was intentionally set and the arson investigation has been turned over to police.  The investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing.  Police will remain on scene for the Forensic Identification Section to process the scene in day light.

Police investigate break and enter, assault and suspicious fire

March 1, 2021, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia…The RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a break and enter, assault and arson that occurred at a home in Lower Sackville.

At approximately 5:10 a.m. on February 27, Halifax District RCMP responded to a home on fire Sackville Dr. The only occupant was able to get out prior to police arrival and was taken to hospital by EHS with non life-threatening injuries.

Police believe an unknown man had entered the home, assaulted the occupant and started a fire in the home before leaving. The suspect is described as a white man, 5-foot-7 and was wearing a dark jacket and a hat.

Police seek suspect in property damage

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in a property damage investigation that occurred this month.

On February 12 police received a report of damage that had been caused to a vehicle in the 800 block of Herring Cove Road in Halifax. A man damaged the vehicle with a bat then left the area in a vehicle.

The suspect is described as a man, approximately 5’10”, with a thin build and dark facial hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing light coloured pants, hooded sweater, winter jacket and hat.

Home Invasion& Abduction, Bedford

Police investigate home invasion, abduction 

On February 24th at approximately 11:30 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a report that a man had been shot in an apartment in the 1-100 block of Glen Moir Terrace in Bedford.

Officers arrived on-scene and learned that the victim was abducted by the suspects who stole the victim’s vehicle to flee. Multiples police units attended the area but the suspects were not located.

The 42-year-old victim was later located by Police, he was transported to hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The investigation is in the early stages.

Update:

At approximately 11:30 p.m. police responded to a report that a man had been shot in an apartment in the 0-100 block of Glen Moir Terrace in Bedford. Two men wearing dark clothing and masks shot an occupant of the apartment and abducted him in his own vehicle.

The 42-year-old victim was located by police a short distance away and he was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects and the victim’s vehicle have not been located at this time.

The victim’s vehicle is described as a white 2014 Dodge Caravan cargo van. The windows in the rear of the vehicle have been covered with white window tinting and the driver’s side window has a no-smoking decal on it.

Break & Enter, Berwick

February 24, 2021, Berwick, NS…Kings District RCMP is asking for public help to solve a break and enter to a convenience store on Commercial St. in Berwick.

At 1:45 a.m. on February 17, Kingston RCMP responded to an alarm from the store. The suspect fled prior to police arrival, but can be seen on video gaining entry to the store by smashing the glass front door. The suspect is then seen jumping over the front counter, rummaging through a drawer, and using a garbage can and garbage bags to carry merchandise out of the store. The suspect stole a quantity of cigarettes.

After leaving the store, the suspect got into the passenger side of a blue Nissan or Mazda vehicle, leaving the area eastbound toward Waterville at a high speed.

The suspect was wearing a light colored hoodie, darker coloured jacket with a white stripe down the arms, black underwear, sneakers and lighter coloured pants.

Counterfeit Money, Kings County

Help RCMP identify suspect in counterfeit money investigation

February 23, 2021, Kingston, Nova Scotia…Kings District RCMP is asking for public help to identify a suspect in a counterfeit money investigation.

On the morning of February 22, a man visited a convenience store on Main St. in Kingston and used a counterfeit $50 Canadian bill to make a purchase.

Surveillance video shows the suspect as a tall man, between 35 and 45 years old, with a long reddish brown beard and moustache wearing a black winter toque, a grey Adidas zippered sweater and a black shirt.

The bill has distinctive blue markings, which the suspect folded down as he passed the bill to the staff of the store. The serial number on the bill isLGQ03229158.

Kings District RCMP is reminding local merchants and their employees to examine and verify any currency that is given to them, and to report any suspicious bills to their local RCMP detachment.
