Police seek public assistance in two robbery investigations

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects in two robberies that occurred in Halifax and Dartmouth earlier this week.

At approximately 1:25 p.m. on August 9 police responded to a robbery at My Son’s Place pub and grill located at 223 Wyse Road in Dartmouth. A man entered the bar, produced a knife and demanded money from an employee. The man left the bar with an amount of money. The employee was not physically injured.

At approximately 11:21 p.m. on August 9 police responded to a robbery that had just occurred at Jenny’s Place Pub at 6211 Lady Hammond Road in Halifax. Staff reported two men wearing masks entered the business demanding money. One suspect threatened he had a weapon. The suspects left on foot with an amount of money, in an unknown direction of travel. No one was injured and no weapons were seen.

The first suspect is described as a man, 40-50 years of age, approximately 5’8” and heavy-set. He was wearing a baseball hat with a Toronto Blue Jays logo, a black sweater with “Canada” on the front, dark sunglasses, blue jeans, dark shoes, dark gloves and a blue disposable face mask.

The second suspect is described as a man, 30-40 years of age with a thin build. He was wearing a red mask and a black hooded shirt.

Police Investigate Weapons Call (Shooting) in Dartmouth

On August 13th, 2021 shortly before midnight Halifax Regional Police officers responded to the Dartmouth General Hospital as a male victim arrived there with a gun shot wound.

Several officers attended the hospital and learned that the victim was walking in the area of Gaston Road and Portland Street when he heard what he thought were Fireworks going off and then he realized he had been hit with a bullet.  The victim then made his way to the hospital.

The victim suffered Non-Life-Threatening injuries. 

Investigators with the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.  The investigation is in its preliminary stages and is ongoing.

Kings District RCMP responds to armed robbery in Greenwood

August 12, 2021, Greenwood, Nova Scotia…Kings District RCMP is investigating after responding to an armed robbery in Greenwood.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on August 10, police responded to a complaint of an armed robbery at a gas bar and convenience store on Central Ave. in Greenwood. Upon arrival, police learned that an employee had been approached by an unknown man in the parking lot of the store. The suspect demanded that employee re-open the store to give him money. The suspect then displayed a firearm to the employee and demanded that the employee hand over their wallet. The suspect left the store parking lot on foot. No one was injured.

The suspect was wearing a dark blue hoodie with a dark bandana mask over their face. He is described as approximately 5-foot-5 and 140lbs. The suspect appeared to be in their early twenties and has what appeared to be brown hair.

The investigation is ongoing and is being supported by the Kings District General Investigation Section and Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit. Yarmouth Municipal RCMP is investigating damage to property at the Yarmouth Municipal RCMP Detachment on Water St.

On return from a routine patrol early on August 7, police discovered that two police cars and a personal vehicle had been damaged. Further investigation revealed several large rocks scattered throughout the detachment parking lot that had been used to inflict the damage. No one was located by police in the immediate area.

Halifax District RCMP investigate break-in and firearms theft

August 10, 2021, Lake Charlotte, Nova Scotia…Halifax District RCMP is investigating after a home was broken into on Hwy. 7 in Lake Charlotte.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on August 8, RCMP responded to a complaint of a break-in at a home on Hwy. 7. Police learned that a man had broken into the home at approximately 5:15 p.m. on August 7 while the homeowner was away. During the break-in, the male stole a gun locker containing a number of firearms and cash, a safe and a piggy bank. The suspect was observed leaving the home at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Hwy. 7.

Police have since identified the suspect as Justin Jody Dempster, 31, of Dartmouth. Dempster is also the subject of Canada-Wide Arrest Warrant for violating conditions of his Parole.

On August 9 at approximately 6:35 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop and located Dempster in a vehicle on Hwy. 7 in Sheet Harbour. Police attempted to arrest Dempster who then fled in his vehicle.

Dempster is described as white, 5-foot-10, 185 lbs, with short hair and brown eyes. Dempster’s tattoos include one on the right side of his neck, which is easily visible. Should you see Dempster, please don’t approach him and call 911.

Police investigate Robbery – Halifax

RCMP investigating report of indecent act

August 9, 2021, Tantallon, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is investigating a report of an indecent act that occurred last week on the Beechville Lakeside Timberlea (BLT) Trail.

At 7:26 p.m. on August 4, RCMP responded to a report that a man was masturbating beside the BLT trail near the Fraser Road entrance. The man is described as being in his late thirties or early forties, and having tan skin and grey/black hair.

Police investigate robbery

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax over the weekend.

On August 7 police responded to a robbery at the Irving Circle K located at 5450 Inglis Street. A man entered the store, produced a knife and demanded money from the clerk. The man left on a bicycle with an undisclosed amount of money. The employee was not injured.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 20-30 years of age with short curly brown hair. He was wearing a black hat with an Atlanta Falcons NFL logo, face mask, sunglasses, hoodie, thick black leather gloves, dark grey sweat pants and black shoes. He was carrying a white bag with a colorful pattern.

Police investigate shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Dartmouth early this morning.

At approximately 4:45 a.m. on August 9 police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Demetreous and Bras Dor lanes. Officers located a number of spent shell casings on the ground. At this time, no injuries have been reported.

Police investigate suspicious death

UPDATE: Police now investigating homicide

August 10, 2021, Eskasoni, Nova Scotia…The suspicious death of a 30-year-old Eskasoni man is now being investigated as a homicide.

At approximately 5:45 a.m. on yesterday, Eskasoni RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at a home on Beach Rd. in Eskasoni. Police found a 30-year-old Eskasoni man deceased and his death has been ruled a homicide.

The investigation is being lead by the Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit and is being supported by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Eskasoni RCMP. August 9, 2021, Eskasoni, Nova Scotia…The RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit with assistance from the Eskasoni RCMP is investigating the suspicious death of a 30-year-old Eskasoni man.

At approximately 5:45 a.m. this morning, Eskasoni RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death on Beach Rd in Eskasoni. Investigators have since deemed the death to be suspicious and the investigation is ongoing.
