On February 2 at approximately 8 p.m. police were called a home invasion that had just occurred at a residence on Trinity Avenue in Dartmouth.  A man not known to the resident knocked on the door, and when the male resident opened the door, the man struck him in the head with what appeared to be a replica gun. The suspect made his way into the residence and continued to assault the resident while demanding money. The resident provided a sum of money and the suspect fled the area on foot.

The 47-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as young white man, approximately 6’-6’2” tall, weighing 190-210 lbs. He had short stubble on his face and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and sunglasses.

 Antigonish RCMP investigating report of indecent act

January 31, 2019, Antigonish, Nova Scotia . . . Antigonish RCMP is reaching out to the public for assistance to solve two complaints of indecent acts that have been reported in the Antigonish area.

On January 25, a complainant told police that a man was masturbating in his vehicle in the parking lot of a hardware store on Church St. The suspect is described as a white male, and was in a light blue or grey new model Toyota Tundra pickup truck. It had a canopy on the back, and two hunting decals depicting deer. The man was last seen travelling West on Highway 4.

An additional complaint of a man committing an indecent act in a store parking lot in Antigonish was received on January 26. The incident occurred on January 18 at 2:30 p.m., and involved a man in a truck of a similar description, who pulled into a parking spot near the victim and began masturbating in plain view of her. The victim was returning to her vehicle after leaving a department store on Market St. at the time.

The suspect in both cases is believed to be the same person, but police need more information about him in order to proceed. The RCMP believes there may have been other incidents, but due to their nature, they have not been reported to police. Police have determined the suspect commits these indecent acts purposefully in plain view of females as they are exiting shopping areas. He has been sitting in his truck in both cases that were reported to police so far.

Police charge two people for possession of counterfeit currency

January 31, 2019, Kings County, Nova Scotia . . . Police in Kings County have charged two people for offences related to counterfeit currency in the area.

Between January 17 and January 25, a bank in Middleton and four Kings County business reported receiving counterfeit American $10, $20, and $50-dollar bills in the course of conducting business. Police officers of the Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) investigated the incidents and arrested the suspects on January 30.

• Tessa Lee Davidson, 24, of Kentville has been charged with Possession of Counterfeit Currency, Uttering Counterfeit Currency, and Breach of Conditions.
• Brandon Drew Corbin, 22, or Berwick, has been charged with Possession of Counterfeit Currency, Uttering Counterfeit Currency, and two counts of Breach of Probation.

Both individuals were held in custody following their arrests and are appearing in Kentville Provincial Court today.

Police are releasing photos of the currency to the public. The serial numbers on currency of each denomination is the same. Anyone in the area who handles currency in the course of their business or work is alerted to be on the lookout for this currency and should they come into contact with it, to report it to police. If you unknowingly accept counterfeit currency as legal tender, you cannot be reimbursed.

Valley Integrated SCEU is comprised of members of Kings District RCMP and Kentville Police Service who are investigating this crime. RCMP seeking public’s assistance to identify suspect

January 31, 2019, Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a person of interest in relation to two thefts from a business in Cole Harbour.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on January 26 and at 9:30 a.m. on January 29, a man left a business on Forest Hills Parkway without paying for razor blades and an electric razor. The items are valued at over $2,000. The suspect is described as a 20-30 year-old white man, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin beard. He was wearing a black Puma sweater, a ball cap, black pants and black shoes.

Police are investigating a break and enter that occurred in Halifax early yesterday morning. 

Police were called to a break and enter that had occurred early Tuesday morning at the Guardian Pharmacy located at 535 Larry Uteck Boulevard in Halifax. Multiple suspects forced their way into the pharmacy and caused damage to the interior including trying to disable the security system and access an automatic teller machine. They left with an undisclosed amount of cash.   

A black Dodge pickup truck was seen in the area of the pharmacy at the time of the incident. 

The investigation is ongoing and investigators are continuing their efforts to identify the suspects. RCMP encouraging home and business owners to protect valuables

January 23, 2019, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia… The RCMP is encouraging home and business owners to take a few extra steps to protect your valuables.

Police regularly seize stolen property and aim to return it to its rightful owners.  This challenge is easier met when a few proactive steps have been taken by property owners. Here are a few things you can do to help recover your valuables in the event they are ever stolen:

Mark it – Engrave equipment/valuables in a discreet location.

Document it – Photograph equipment/valuables and record serial numbers and engraving details.

Store it – Keep all documentation in a safe place.

Taking these simple steps could significantly increase your chances of having stolen items returned if they are ever recovered by police.

Welder stolen during break and enter

January 29, 2019, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is investigating a Break, and Enter and Theft that occurred at a residence in the 0-100 block of Stokil Dr. in Lower Sackville.

Sometime between 10 p.m. January 27 and 6 a.m. January 28, the suspect(s) entered the unlocked garage of the home and stole a welder. The welder is described as a blue Mastercraft Mig welder, approximately 12”x 12” in size.

The investigation is ongoing.

Medical alert device used to report break and enter

January 28, 2019, Little River, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia . . . An 83-year-old woman was in her home on December 9, 2018, when she heard a loud bang shortly before 2 a.m. She then heard people going to the basement of her home, then towards her bedroom. She called out to see who it was, then heard male voices yelling “go, go, go”, and heard multiple people running from her home. The woman was not able to see the numbers on the phone and used her medical alert device to call for help.

Police arrived a short time later and noted that a vehicle had entered several driveways and backed out again. A break and enter was reported in the area later that day.
