Police Investigate Stabbing

On February 22, 2020 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Halifax Regional Police received a 911 call from a witness who reported observing a male in the area holding a knife.

The male appeared to be in a verbal dispute with another male in the area of True North Crescent and Highfield Park Drive, Dartmouth.

When Police were in the area looking for the men they located a 26-year old Dartmouth man suffering from a non-life threatening stab wound to his neck. Police believe this is related to the original call. The male was transported to hospital for treatment. The suspect has not been located. The suspect and victim are believed to be known to one another.

The investigation is ongoing and a detailed description of the suspect is not yet available.

Woman arrested following stabbing

February 23, 2020, New Germany, Nova Scotia . . . At 3:09 a.m., Lunenburg County District RCMP responded to a call of an injured man at a residence in New Germany.

Members responded to the residence and found the victim, a 28-year-old man from Cambridge, N.S. inside the house with a stab wound to his upper back. Officers learned the man had sustained the non life-threatening injury by a woman known to him. The victim was examined and transported to the hospital by EHS. No one else was injured in the incident.

The RCMP arrested the suspect, a 23-year-old woman from New Germany, at a nearby residence. She remains in custody.

Lunenburg County District RCMP is investigation the matter and is being assisted by Lunenburg GIS/SCEU. Police searching for robbery suspect

Police are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth this evening.

At approximately 7:26 p.m. police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at a gas station located in the 200 block of Pleasant Street.  A man entered the store and threatened staff with a knife before fleeing on foot with a quantity of cigarettes and money.  There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’7” with a heavy build, wearing baggy blue jeans, a khaki jacket, black winter toque and tan work boots.  He was also carrying a black gym bag.

Police charge a man for child pornography-related offences

Police have charged a man from Halifax with child pornography-related offences.

Yesterday, investigators in the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search of a residence in Halifax after receiving information from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) that a person from Halifax had been sharing sexually explicit images of children online. Investigators, with the assistance of members of West Division Patrol, seized a number of electronic devices for forensic analysis.

Investigators in the ICE and Vice Units arrested a man at the residence without incident.

Lorne Leslie Stewart, 25, of Halifax has been charged with one count each of distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography and breach of prohibition order.

He was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court yesterday.

Two arrests after stolen property recovered in Pictou County

February 18, 2020, Pictou County, Nova Scotia . . . On February 12, Pictou District RCMP, with the assistance of the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU), arrested two men following a break and enter to a business on West River Station Rd. in Salt Springs. Police stopped a vehicle that was leaving the scene of the break and enter and arrested the two men inside.

Thirty-one-year-old Bradley Mitchell Wong of Lansdowne and 36-year-old Thomas James Fulton of Rocklin have been charged with Break and Enter, two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and two counts of Theft Under $5000. Wong is also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The vehicle driven by these subjects, a light blue Subaru Outback, contained stolen property and was seized. Both men were held in custody since their arrest and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court today.

Following these arrests, Pictou District RCMP obtained a warrant and searched a home on Lansdowne Station Rd. in Lansdowne on February 14. During the search, police seized a large quantity of stolen property, including a second vehicle. This investigation is ongoing and police expect to lay several additional charges. Investigators will be contacting the owners of the recovered stolen property to make arrangements for them to identify and claim it.

February 16, 2020, Upper Nappan, Nova Scotia…Parrsboro RCMP is asking for public help to locate a missing Side by Side ATV.

On February 15, police received a report of a pickup truck and ATV that had been stolen that day between 6:30 a.m and 11 a.m. from a home’s driveway on #2 Hwy. in Upper Nappan.

The truck was recovered abandoned just before noon that day in a remote area near Sackville, New Brunswick, by New Brunswick RCMP. The ATV has not been located. It is described as a 2016 Kawasaki Teryx, white and black with neon green highlights.

Halifax Regional Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Halifax this afternoon.

On February 13^th, 2020, at 1:44pm, Halifax Regional Police responded to the L.K. Yarns store at 5545 Young Street in Halifax for a robbery committed by a lone male who threatened staff with a knife. There were no injuries.  The suspect, a white male with dark complexion, 5’6”, concealing his face with a bandana, and wearing blue jeans and a long black winter jacket with brown fur trim, fled on foot towards Novalea Drive.

February 13, 2020, New Minas, Nova Scotia . . . The Nova Scotia Human Trafficking team has charged a 38-year-old man for sexual offences involving a female youth, following a five-week investigation.

The investigation began on January 9 and resulted in the arrest of the suspect, Bradley Lloyd Clarke, 38, of Kentville on February 10. He was arrested without incident and has been charged with:

• Sexual Assault
• Obtaining sexual services from a person under the age of 18
• Luring a Child
• Sexual Interference
• Trafficking a Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
• Trafficking a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)

He was released following his arrest and is scheduled to return Kentville Provincial Court on March 17. The victim has been offered support regarding this matter.

The Nova Scotia Human Trafficking Team lead the investigation and was assisted by Kings District RCMP and Kentville Police Service. One of the mandates of the Nova Scotia Human Trafficking Team is to educate the public that purchasing sexual services is a criminal offence. By educating the public, the Team is helping to curb the demand for sexual services.

Charges laid following Yarmouth shooting

 February 6, 2020, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia…The RCMP has charged a 22-year-old man from Yarmouth in relation to the February 4 shooting that left a 17-year-old female with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

At approximately 10:10 p.m. on February 4, Yarmouth RCMP responded to a call about a possible gunshot victim. The victim was located inside a taxi on Main St. when the driver flagged down police out of concern for their passenger.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the member observed serious but non-life-threatening injuries to the passenger and she was transported to hospital by EHS.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been socializing with several people at a home on Cliff St. where she was shot, and that the victim and suspect were known to each other.

On February 5 at approximately 7 p.m., Yarmouth Town RCMP searched a home on Butler St. in Yarmouth and arrested the accused without incident.

Scott Alan Smith Jr. is charged with:

• Careless Use of a Firearm
• Pointing a Firearm
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized
• Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
• Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm

Smith was held in custody overnight and is scheduled to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court today.

The investigation is ongoing and being led by Yarmouth Town RCMP with assistance from Yarmouth Town GIS, Yarmouth/Claire Street Crime Enforcement Unit and the Yarmouth County Detachment.

Police charge man for child pornography-related offences

Police have charged a Dartmouth man with child pornography-related offences.

Earlier today, investigators in the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search of an address in Dartmouth after receiving information from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre that a Dartmouth man had been sharing sexually explicit images online with a 12-year-old female youth located in Wisconsin. Investigators, with the assistance of members of East Division Patrol, seized a number of electronic devices for forensic analysis.

Investigators in the ICE and Vice Units arrested a man without incident at the scene.

Brandon Klayme, 22, of Dartmouth, has been charged with one count each of:

• Luring a person under the 14 years of age by means of telecommunication – Criminal Code Section 172.1 (1) (C)
• Providing sexually explicit material to a child – Criminal Code Section (171.1 (1) (C)
• Possession of child pornography – Criminal Code Section 163 (1) (4)

He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
