Police investigate assault

Police are investigating an assault that occurred in Halifax yesterday.

At approximately 5 p.m. officers located a man who had been assaulted near the intersection of West and Agricola streets. A man punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground, and then took some property from the victim before leaving the area in a vehicle.

The suspect is described as a Black man, approximately 5’11” tall with a medium build and a shaved head. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, light coloured blue jeans, white sneakers and reading glasses. The suspect left in a vehicle believed to be a black Chevrolet Cruz.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have information in relation to this incident or video from the area is asked to call police at 902-490-5020. Police investigating assault with a weapon in Halifax.

On September 27th at approximately 4:25 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a retail outlet in the 0-100 block of Washmill Lake Drive, Halifax for a report of security officer who had been stabbed.

The male security officer confronted a suspect who was stealing merchandise from the store at which point the suspect turned on the guard stabbing him in the arm. The victim received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. 

The suspect fled the area on foot and is described as a male, 25-30 years old, 6 feet tall wearing blue jeans, sneakers and a baseball hat. The suspect has not been located.

Police continue to seek public’s assistance locating missing man

Today marks the first anniversary of the disappearance of Ryan James Jessop and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

Ryan has not been in contact with family members since September 2020. This is out of character for him, and his family and police are concerned for his wellbeing.

Investigators have determined that Ryan was last seen in the area of Dartmouth Crossing on the evening of September 27, 2020.

Ryan is described as white, 5’ 10”, 175 lbs. with dark brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue track suit and a black puffy Guess vest.

Police are asking anyone with information in relation to his disappearance to contact police at 902-490-5016.

Ryan’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.

RCMP investigate early-morning robbery in Windsor

September 26, 2021, Windsor, Nova Scotia … Windsor West Hants RCMP is investigating after an early-morning robbery on Saturday at a business in Windsor.

On September 25, at 3:48 a.m., members were called to a business on Wentworth Road after an employee reported being robbed. The investigation determined that a woman had entered the business and showed a knife to the employee. She then took a quantity of cash from behind the counter before leaving. The employee was not injured and immediately called 911.

The woman is described as white, approximately 5-foot-8, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and dark-coloured track pants.

Windsor West Hants RCMP continue to investigate.

RCMP investigate shots fired

September 24, 2021, Millbrook, Nova Scotia… Millbrook RCMP are investigating after a report of shots fired in Millbrook.

On September 24, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Millbrook RCMP responded to a report of shots fired on Martin Cres. Police located damage to a home, but no one was injured. The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP investigating three commercial break-ins

September 24, 2021, New Minas, Nova Scotia…Kings District RCMP General Investigation Section is investigating three commercial break-ins that occurred in the early morning hours of September 14.

Between 2:15 and 5:30 a.m., three business were broken into by the same three suspects. Entry was gained into the businesses by breaking the front window of each one. The businesses were located on Commercial St. in New Minas, Main St. in Wolfville and Hwy. 1 in Grand Pre. During the break-ins lottery tickets, cigarettes and fireworks were stolen.

Police investigate robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred on the weekend in Halifax.On September 18 at approximately 4:15 a.m. police responded to a robbery in the area of Spring Garden Road and Brunswick Street in Halifax. A man and woman approached another man, demanded money and attempted to take his property. The woman assaulted the victim with a knife and the pair fled with a quantity of cash. The victim was taken to hospital with what were believed to non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman is described as white, in her twenties, with long straight dark hair and a medium build. The man is described as white, mid to late forties, approximately 5’5” tall with a beard.

Police investigate indecent act

Police are investigating an indecent act that occurred in Dartmouth earlier this week.

On September 14 at approximately 7:25 p.m. police responded to a report of an indecent act in the area of the baseball field on Mount Hope Avenue. A man was seen in the area masturbating and exposing himself to people.

The man was described as white, between 50-60 years old, approximately 5’ 10” tall, short gray hair and facial hair. At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a plaid jacket and black pants.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a suspicious circumstance call in Halifax this week.

On September 14 at approximately 8:30 p.m. a man approached a group of youths who were walking in the area of the bus terminal on Mumford Road in Halifax. The man made inappropriate comments to one of the youths and attempted to hug the youth.  The youths walked away and reported the incident to a trusted adult.

The man is described as, in his twenties with a thin build and black hair. He was wearing a yellow hooded sweater, brown pants, brown shoes and a black back pack.

Police are looking to speak with the man or anyone who may have information in relation to identity or this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5020. Police continue to investigate the murder of Josiah Kaelin Sparks

September 14, 2021, Lake Loon, Nova Scotia… Today marks the 4th anniversary of the murder of 22-year-old Josiah Kaelin Sparks of Lake Loon.

Just after 8 p.m. on September 14, 2017, police responded to a 911 call after Sparks was found deceased on Cherry Brook Rd in Lake Loon. Police continue to ask anyone with information on the whereabouts of Sparks between Monday, September 11, 2017 and Thursday, September 14, 2017 to contact police. The investigation has determined that Sparks had attended a gathering at a house on Cherry Brook Rd. during this time period. Police would like to speak with anyone that may have seen him there.

The Government of the Province of Nova Scotia is offering rewards of up to one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Josiah Kaelin Sparks. The Provincial Rewards line is 1-888-710-9090.
