Halifax Police Investigate Robbery

On Sunday October 21st at 5:12 pm a male with a gun came into a business in the 1000 block of South Park Street wearing a black and white Halloween mask.  He told the staff member to give him the money and pointed a black handgun at her.

Taken was a quantity of cash, the staff member was not injured.

Suspect was male, dark skinned, tall, skinny, wearing a black jacket and the Halloween mask.  The mask and a plastic gun were located a short distance from the robbery location.

RCMP Investigate Armed Robbery in Pictou

RCMP investigate armed robbery

October 19, Pictou Nova Scotia . . . At approximately 9:40 p.m. last evening, Pictou County District RCMP responded to a complaint of an armed robbery at a convenience store on West River Road in Pictou.

Upon attending the location, RCMP confirmed that a male suspect wearing a hoodie, a black mask and gloves entered the store armed with a knife and demanded cash from the employee. The male suspect was described as being just under six-feet-tall, of medium build, in his late twenties to early thirties. The male suspect departed the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Nobody was injured as a result of this incident.

Upper Tantallon Home Cleaned Up !!

House cleaned after door left unlocked

October 18, 2018, Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia … Just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint involving two suspicious women in a home in Upper Tantallon.

RCMP were called by the home owner, who was not home at the time. They had been contacted by a concerned neighbour after the two women were observed in the home with a vacuum cleaner and a mop. The investigation has determined that the house was left unlocked in order for the neighbour to walk the owner’s dog, however, two women showed up, cleaned the house, and left without knowing they had the wrong address.

Although the house was cleaned for free, RCMP would like to take this opportunity to remind home owners to ensure their doors are locked at all times. As well, commend the neighbour for having been observant and contacting the home owner.  Police File# 18-160645 refers.

Jewelry stolen from vacant home

October 18, 2018, Cheverie, Hants County, Nova Scotia . . . On October 15, Windsor RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter. Police determined ‎someone had broken into the residence and taken a large amount of jewelry.

The home was entered between Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. and Oct. 15 at 9 a.m. The suspect gained entry via a window, then took the jewelry, which is valued at between $2,000 and $5,000. The items stolen included genuine and imitation gold, silver and pearl rings, necklaces and bracelets. RCMP have canvassed the area and continue to look for suspects. Police would like to advise the public to be cautious and on the lookout for potentially stolen items when purchasing such items online or in secondhand shops.

Thieves steal from home in Kentville

On October 15th Kentville Police Service received a report of a Break & Enter into a barn behind a residence.

The B&E occurred between October 12th and October 14th. The following tools were reported stolen from a locked workshop inside the barn:

(1) John Sered chainsaw, red/blk in color with the
complainant’s initials on same

(2) Makita Jigsaw

(3) King Air Nailer, red in color and

(4) Milwaukee Drill Set.

Thief steals tools from cottages in Lunenburg area

On September 23, 2018 at 8:14 am, an unknown male attended a seasonal property currently under renovations and stole a substantial amount of miscellaneous construction tools. Some of the items stolen included staging, ladders, a generator, circular saws, table saws, etc… The total amount stolen was estimated to be worth over $15,000.

A picture of the suspect and suspect vehicle are below. Only a handful of that specific truck / model / color was sold within the Atlantic Provinces since 2013.

The vehicle may also be involved in other substantial thefts within Lunenburg County and potentially the surrounding areas.

Several Break and Enters in Windsor Area

Since October 2, 2018 Windsor District RCMP have responded to a total of 7 known break & enter complaints that included homes and businesses in the a/n area. Most were seasonal homes and sheds but in at least two instances the suspect entered an occupied residence.  Items taken include firearms, tools and generators.

The suspect was interrupted by one of the owners and is described as: stocky white male, average height.  The suspect vehicle is a black/dark color dual axle pick-up with orange running lights on the cab and wooden box rails. The box was reportedly filled with scrap material.  .

Police Investigate Arson – Halifax

At 11:29 p.m., 12 October, Halifax Regional Police and HRM Fire & Emergency responded to a Fire Canadian Tire, 6203 Quinpool Road Halifax.  Multiple callers reported seeing flames in or around the Canadian Tire.  Police confirmed two sheds belonging to the Mall were engulfed in flames.

HRM Fire attended and extinguished the fires.  Fire Investigators confirmed the fire was intentionally set and the Arson investigation has been turned over to police.    There are no suspects at this time.

Boat, motor, and trailer stolen in Cape Breton

October 16, 2018, Newtown, Inverness County, Nova Scotia . . . The owner of a $30,000 boat, motor, and trailer contacted Inverness District RCMP yesterday to report that he’d been the victim of a theft.

Between Oct. 11 and 15, someone took his 2017 Alumacraft MV1860 boat with a 70 horsepower 2017 Yamaha outboard motor, and his 2017 Easy Hauler trailer 182, grey in colour and bearing NS licence plate T420703. The owner had been leaving his items on an access road in Newtown during the week for 20 years, and leaving the boat in the water on weekends to go fishing.

Police have checked with neighbours in the area but no one has come up with any information that has led them to an arrest, or the recovery of the stolen items. Safe stolen during break and enter

October 15, 2018, Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance after a break and enter took place at a business on Cole Harbour Rd. in Cole Harbour. Sometime between 7 p.m. on October 11 and 7 a.m. on October 12, those responsible entered the business and stole a safe and a dolly.

The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
