Masked man robs New Minas area service station

November 1, 2018, Prospect, Kings County, Nova Scotia . . . At 4:15 this morning, New Minas RCMP responded to an armed robbery call at a service station on Prospect Rd. The man, who is described as a male, approximately 30 years old, wearing a black hoodie with a face mask, black pants and gloves, was holding a handgun and told the clerk to open the safe. The clerk wasn’t able to get the safe open so the man took all of the cash from the register, stuffed it into his pockets and ran from the store, headed East towards New Minas.

No one was injured and there were no other people in the store at the time. RCMP officers flooded the area but were not able to locate the suspect. The investigation is continuing today, with an RCMP Police Dog and handler coming to the area to check for evidence, and RCMP Forensic Identification Services examine the scene. Police will also be examining surveillance video.
