December 12, 2017, Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is investigating damage to three bus shelters located along Shore Rd. in Eastern Passage.

Just after 2:30 a.m. this morning, RCMP received a complaint of four suspicious males in the Shore Rd. area. While patrolling the area officers located three bus shelters that were damaged by vandals. The suspects were not located after an extensive search of area, with assistance from Halifax Regional Police K-9 Unit.

December 12, 2017, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is investigating a break and enter at a drug store on Sackville Dr. in Lower Sackville.

Sometime between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Monday morning, a suspect entered the business where they proceeded to ransack the business, steal an undetermined amount of prescription drugs and cash.

The suspect is described as wearing dark clothing, a toque and a balaclava.

The investigation is continuing with assistance from the RCMP Forensics Identification Section.

December 12, 2017, Canso, Nova Scotia… Guysborough District RCMP is investigating a recent break and enter that occurred at the grounds of the annual Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso.

Sometime during the overnight hours on December 10, multiple buildings at the festival grounds were broken into and several doors were damaged in the process. This kind of damage significantly impacts the operations of the nonprofit organization. Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have information about these incidents.

December 10, 2017, Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia…At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning Halifax District RCMP responded to a stabbing incident in Cole Harbour.

The incident began as a brawl involving several people outside of Big Leagues, Forest Hills Parkway. The parties involved left the scene prior to a second altercation taking place in the parking lot of the Atlantic Superstore on Cole Harbour Rd. that resulted in a 22-year-old man being stabbed. The victim was transported to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries and was later released. A 29-year-old from Dartmouth is facing charges of Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.

This incident remains under investigation by the General Investigation Section of the RCMP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

At 2:45 a.m., 9 December, Halifax Regional Police responded to a robbery that had just occurred at Buddy Day and Gerrish Lane Halifax.  Two adults, a male & female, were walking home together when they were approached by two male suspects, both wearing hooded shirts.  One suspect demanded the female victim give up her purse and sprayed her in the face with bear spray.  The male victim was able to fend off the suspect and grabbed the bear spray from him.  The male victim sprayed the suspect with his own bear spray.  Both suspects took off in an unknown direction of travel.

K9 attended and the purse of the female was located in the area after an article search. All contents of the purse were accounted for.  The can of bear spray was also located.

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division were able to identify one of the suspects, the male who used the Bear Spray.  At approximately 9:20 p.m. on 9 December, police located and arrested a 17-year-old male from Dartmouth.  The 17-year-old male has been remanded for Court and is charged with Robbery, Weapon offences (related to the Bear Spray), and Breach charges for Recognizance and Probation.  The investigation is ongoing and police are still seeking the remaining suspect.

Between 6:00 p.m. on November 24, 2017 and 7:00 a.m. on November 25, 2017 thieves stole a large quantity of industrial copper wire from a construction site on Highway 362 in Margaretsville, Nova Scotia.

Middleton RCMP is investigating this matter, and is asking the public for assistance. December 7, 2017, Bible Hill, Nova Scotia . . . Colchester District RCMP is investigating a theft that occurred at “The Barn”, a campus pub on the Dalhousie University Agricultural Campus in Bible Hill. The theft occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 3, and several thousand dollars was stolen.

December 7, 2017, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is investigating theft of snow blowers from a business on Highway 2 in Fall River.

Sometime between 7 p.m. on December 5 and 8 a.m. on December 6, suspects entered a secure compound and stole 4 Husqvarna snow blowers, 1 Toro snow blower, 1 unknown brand track snow blower, and 1 Briggs and Stratton 20 HP lawn mower engine. The Husqvarna snow blowers are described as being black and orange in colour, Models in the 200 and 300 series. The total value of equipment stolen is in excess of $28,000. Suspects also caused damage to the compound during the break and enter.

“With winter approaching, thieves target snow removal equipment,” says Cpl. Dal Hutchinson, Halifax District RCMP. “If someone offers to sell you a brand new snow blower for a cheap price, this should raise some red flags.”

December 5, 2017, Watt Section, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is investigating a break and enter in to a church in Watt Section.

Prior to 1 p.m. on Monday, Halifax District RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter at a church on the St. Andrews Loop. A member of the congregation arrived to decorate for Christmas when they discovered the front door had been forced open and the church smelled like smoke. Further investigation determined that items such as hymn books, altar items, including a prayer stand, were lit on fire. However, the fire appeared to extinguish itself, resulting in minimal damage to the church that was built in the 1800’s. It’s believed this incident took place between November 12 and December 4.
