RCMP firearm stolen

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the theft of an RCMP service pistol from downtown Halifax.

On March 9 between 7:40 p.m and 9:30 pm, an off-duty RCMP officer’s firearm was stolen from their personal vehicle in the 5100 block of Granville Street in Halifax. Also taken were three magazines and ammunition.

The firearm is described as a silver 9mm Smith & Wesson model 5946 pistol with an RCMP logo showing “RCMP”, a silhouette of a horse and rider and “GRC” inscribed on the right side of the slide. The magazines are also silver.

Police seek public assistance to identify theft suspect

Halifax Regional Police request the public’s assistance to identify a person of interest, believed to be involved in frauds that occurred in Dartmouth.

On January 16, police received a report of a fraud that had occurred in the 200 block of Wyse Road in Dartmouth.  Investigators believe that the suspect had used stolen cheques to make multiple fraudulent transactions starting in December of 2018.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set white woman, approximately 5’4” to 5’6” tall, 30 to 40-years-old and has shoulder length blonde hair.

Investigators are asking anyone who has information on these incidents or the identity of the woman to call police at 902-490-5020. Police request public’s assistance – motor vehicle hit and run

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance to identify the driver involved in a motor vehicle collision that occurred today in Dartmouth.

At approximately 8:45 a.m. police responded to a motor vehicle/pedestrian collision at the intersection of Wyse Road and Boland Road in Dartmouth. The pedestrian, a 23-year-old Dartmouth man, was crossing Boland Road in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle turning right from Wyse Road. The pedestrian was taken to hospital for precautionary measures. The vehicle did not stop at the scene.

The vehicle is described as a red four door Toyota Corolla. The driver is described as a white woman, in her 40s or 50s, with curly, shoulder length brown hair.

On March 5th at 8:18pm members of the Halifax Regional Police East Division Quick Response Unit attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Marilyn Dr, Dartmouth.  When the vehicle stopped the three occupants of the vehicle fled.  The area was searched but the three occupants could not be located.  The vehicle was searched and drugs and a firearm was located.   A description of the occupants of the vehicle could not be obtained.  The investigation into the incident continues and anyone with information is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police 902 490 5020 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

Thief steals Polaris ATV side by side in Cumberland County

Stolen between 2019-03-03 2100hrs and 2019-03-04 1100hrs.from the ATV trail in East LEICESTER a 2008 Polaris Ranger side-by-side.  The vehicle is red with a full cab that is black in color.  The vehicle had a mechanical failure and was left on the trail about 1.5 Km from the 204 Highway. When the owner returned to recover the machine it was gone.  Police file 2019285324 refers.

Help solve the murder of Corey Murphy

Police continue to investigate murder of Corey Murphy

Saturday will mark the 15th anniversary of the murder of Corey William Murphy and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s assistance in providing information in relation to his death.

On March 2, 2004, at approximately 7:45 p.m. police were dispatched to a call of a man who had been shot near the area of Herring Cove Road and Hilden Drive in Halifax. Upon arrival officers located Corey Murphy who had been shot and was taken by ambulance to hospital where he later died.

Investigators believe there are people who have information in relation to Corey’s death, and hope that the passage of time may encourage someone to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. It’s never too late and no piece of information is too small; it could be just what is needed to advance the investigation.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a quantity of cash that was lost this week in Halifax.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a quantity of cash that was lost this week in Halifax.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on February 27 police received a call reporting that a woman had withdrawn a quantity of cash from the automatic teller machine located in the Lawton’s Drugs at 16 Dentith Road in Halifax.  It is believed that the envelope containing the cash fell and was lost near the machine.

Halifax District RCMP seeks public’s help to identify suspect in assault at Sackville bar

Halifax District RCMP seeks public’s help to identify suspect in assault at local bar

March 1, 2019, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… On January 27 just after 2 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a local bar on Sackville Drive. Police arrived on scene and dispersed the crowd. Several of the parties involved in the disturbance had left prior to police arrival. The investigation revealed that a man was assaulted by two other men. The victim attended the hospital and was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Through the course of the investigation, one of the suspects was identified as Treyton Alexander Marsman, 20, from Lakeside.   Marsman was arrested without incident on February 20 and appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court later that day on charges of Assault and Breach of Recognizance. He was remanded in custody until his next appearance on March 13 at 09:30 a.m.

The second suspect has not yet been identified and RCMP is requesting the public’s help. The suspect is described as in his mid 20s, 6-foot with black hair and facial hair.
