Police seek driver following erratic driving complaint resulting in a collision

At approximately 10:09 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a driving complaint made by a citizen who reported an erratic driver in a white SUV near the intersection of Main Street and Major Street in Dartmouth. While en-route to the call a patrol member saw a vehicle matching the description on Main Street travelling at a high rate of speed without its lights on.

The officer observed the vehicle, a Jaguar F-Pace SUV proceed through a red light at the intersection of Main Street and Hartlen Avenue at a very high rate of speed where it almost collided with another vehicle.

The officer activated his patrol vehicle emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.  The driver refused to pull over and turned onto Caledonia Road. The officer then observed that the vehicle had turned onto Paul David Court, a dead end.

When the officer arrived at the court he observed that the driver had collided with two parked vehicles and witnesses advised that the male driver fled the vehicle on foot. The vehicle, which was a rental was recovered.  Patrol members attempted to locate the driver with the assistance of a K9 team but the driver was not located. The investigation is in the early stages and Police are working to identify the driver.

Stolen Black 2018 Chev Silverado from Baddeck

Around May 28, 2020 a 2018 Black, Chevy Silverado pickup truck was reported stolen in Baddeck.

Description of Stolen Truck: 2018 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, black in color,  NS Plate: FRZ920.

Distinctive Markings: “Red Line Edition” Rims – each tire rim will have 2 solid red lines across them, two red tow hooks at the front of the truck.

Vehicle/Pedestrian Collision

On June 8th, 2020 at approximately 9:49 p.m. police responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision at the intersection of Bedford Highway and Convoy Run. A 35 year old driver struck a 48 year old female pedestrian and a 54 year old male pedestrian.  The female pedestrian was taken to hospital for which were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The male pedestrian was taken to hospital for which were believed to be life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing and further information will follow as it becomes available.

Assault with a Weapon, Halifax

Police have charged a man for a stabbing in Halifax this morning.

At approximately 8 a.m. this morning police responded to a report of an injured person. Police located a 34-year-old Halifax man who had a non-life-threatening-injuries. The victim had been stabbed by a man who was known to him during an altercation in an underground parking garage in the 1900 block of Brunswick Street.

Police located the suspect in the area and arrested him without incident at approximately 9:15 a.m.

Lawrence Harold Churchill, 34, of Halifax is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Breach of probation (X 3)

Theft of Correctional Officer’s Badge & Equipment

Correctional officer’s badge reported stolen

Halifax Regional Police is investigating the theft of a correctional officer’s badge and work-related equipment from a vehicle over the weekend in Halifax.

On June 7 at approximately 7:20 a.m. police received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle in the Cowie Hill area of Halifax. A correctional officer reported that his Correctional Service Canada identification card, badge, two protective vests, utility belt, along with a duffle bag containing personal items, were stolen from his parked vehicle during the overnight hours.

Weapons Complaint, Halifax

Police investigating weapons call

Halifax Regional Police officers began an investigation of a weapons complaint when they received the complaint at 6:37a.m. this morning.

As a result of the investigation the Police officers executed a search warrant for a location in the 5000 block of West Street, Halifax. As a result of the search a firearm was seized. Police officers have a suspect in custody. There is no threat to public safety at this time.

A 37 year old male from Cole Harbour is being held and will be appearing in court tomorrow and is facing the following charges: various weapons offences under the Criminal Code and threats offences to life and property under the Criminal Code.

Police Investigating Weapons Complaint

Shortly before 4:00 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to reports of an adult male attending hospital for treatment of injuries resulting from a gunshot wound to his face.

Police are investigating a report that the incident occurred on Leaman Drive in Dartmouth at approximately 3:00 p.m. and that the victim was shot at from a four-door black sedan operating in the area.

Members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are continuing the investigation.

Two men injured in stabbing incident, one man in custody

At 4:53 P.M. Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons incident in the area of Creighton Street and Charles Street, Halifax.

Police were in the area at the time of the incident and a member observed an altercation on the road and went to investigate. The investigation revealed that two men who are known to each other were standing outside talking when they were approached by a group of 3-4 adult men. An argument ensued and then one man who had been in the larger group began physically assaulting the other two men with a knife.

The suspect and two victims are known to each other.  A 43-year old man and 47-year-old man were transported to hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening as a result of being stabbed .

A 43-year-old Halifax man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody. The investigation is in the early stages, members of the Halifax Regional Police Integrated General Investigative Section are investigating.

Police arrest woman after assault with weapon and flight from police, still looking for driver 

June 5, 2020, Sylvester, Pictou County, Nova Scotia… Pictou County RCMP arrested a 34-year-old woman from Trenton after an assault with a weapon and flight from police.  Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the driver.

On June 5 at 12:09 a.m. Pictou County RCMP responded to a report that a man was being assaulted by several people, in the area of Sylvester. Upon arrival, members located a 34-year-old man with what appeared to be serious, but non life threatening injuries. The suspects assaulted the victim with baseball bats and a conducted energy weapon. EHS transported the man to the hospital.

A short time later, members located a car with occupants believed to be suspects and attempted to stop the car but they refused to stop. A short distance later, the car lost control and went off the road. The car was stuck and the two occupants fled the car on foot.

The passenger was apprehended and arrested without further incident. The driver ran into the woods on foot.  Police searched the area with the assistance of the Police Dog Services but he was not located. A search of the car resulted in the seizure of a baseball bat and a conducted energy weapon.

The passenger, a 34-year-old woman from Trenton, was released and is facing charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of Weapon, Prohibited Weapon in a Motor Vehicle. She is schedule to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on September 14.

Police asks for help to identify a vehicle and person of interest

June 5, 2020, Waverley, Nova Scotia… The Integrated RCMP/HRP Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s help to identify a vehicle and person of interest in relation to a suspicious incident in Waverley.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on June 2, an older dark pick-up truck with tinted windows tailgated a woman in her vehicle on Waverley Rd. The truck attempted to pass her but drove beside her and then dropped back in behind her. The truck followed for about 20 minutes while the woman tried to evade it. The woman pulled over to make a call, the truck drove by her, noticed her on the phone and drove away.

The driver is described as a white male, 25 to 35-years-old and wearing a ball cap.
