Police arrest woman after assault with weapon and flight from police, still looking for driver
June 5, 2020, Sylvester, Pictou County, Nova Scotia… Pictou County RCMP arrested a 34-year-old woman from Trenton after an assault with a weapon and flight from police. Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the driver.
On June 5 at 12:09 a.m. Pictou County RCMP responded to a report that a man was being assaulted by several people, in the area of Sylvester. Upon arrival, members located a 34-year-old man with what appeared to be serious, but non life threatening injuries. The suspects assaulted the victim with baseball bats and a conducted energy weapon. EHS transported the man to the hospital.
A short time later, members located a car with occupants believed to be suspects and attempted to stop the car but they refused to stop. A short distance later, the car lost control and went off the road. The car was stuck and the two occupants fled the car on foot.
The passenger was apprehended and arrested without further incident. The driver ran into the woods on foot. Police searched the area with the assistance of the Police Dog Services but he was not located. A search of the car resulted in the seizure of a baseball bat and a conducted energy weapon.
The passenger, a 34-year-old woman from Trenton, was released and is facing charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of Weapon, Prohibited Weapon in a Motor Vehicle. She is schedule to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on September 14.
