Police Investigate Theft and Vehicle Collision with Police Vehicle

ON January 5, 2019, at 3:15 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a Theft call at Best Buy 119 Gale Terr Dartmouth.  The suspects fled in a vehicle – Orange Pontiac Vibe, and while leaving the suspect struck a parked vehicle.

Halifax Regional Police located the suspect vehicle on Main Street Dartmouth and activated emergency lights and siren attempting to stop the vehicle.  The suspect vehicle did not stop and fled from police.  While fleeing police the suspect vehicle struck a marked police van with two officers, head on with emergency equipment activated.  Neither officer was injured. The suspect vehicle continued outbound onto the Waverley Road.  The pursuit was called off.

An RCMP patrol member observed the suspect vehicle on Waverley Road.  The RCMP car did not attempt to stop the vehicle.  However, at 3:45 p.m. the suspect vehicle struck another vehicle near the 1800 block of Waverley Road, injuring an adult female and two children, all non-life threatening injuries.

Three suspects fled on foot. The RCMP member arrested two suspects near the vehicle.  RCMP, with a police service dog and HRP members conducted a track for the remaining suspect.  At 4:00 p.m. the police service dog located and arrested the remaining suspect in the 60 block of Rolling Hills Drive.

Two adult males and one adult female are held for court and are facing Criminal charges of:

– Theft under $5000,

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000,

– Flight from Police,

– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle,

– Failing to Stop at Scene of an Accident and

– Assault Police with a Weapon (Vehicle). nd held for court.

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are currently investigating and the investigation is ongoing.

Assault with a Weapon, Halifax

At 2:35 a.m. on January 1st Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an injured male with injuries consistent with a stabbing entering the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Emergency Department, 1799 Robie Street Halifax.  Officers confirmed an unknown person injured the male during an altercation in the 3300 block of Connaught Avenue Halifax.  There is no suspect description at this time.  Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation, which is in the early stages.

Police Investigate Break & Enters Business – Halifax

At 3:58 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a Break & Enter at Geebo Device Repair 6331 Lady Hammond Road Halifax.  The suspects left on foot with an undisclosed amount of electronic items in an unknown direction of travel.  No one was injured.  Patrol officers searched the area, but have not located the suspects.  The suspect’s descriptions are:

Suspect #1 – Male, light complexion, thin build, clean shaven

Wearing: Dark colour jacket, dark colour hooded shirt.

Suspect #2 – Unknown gender, medium build,

Wearing: Dark colour sweatshirt, light colour jogging pants.
Dark Book Bag.

At 1:56 a.m. 31 December, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an injured male with injuries consistent with a stabbing entering the Dartmouth General Hospital Emergency Department, 325 Pleasant Street Dartmouth.  Officers confirmed the male was injured during an altercation in the 100 block of Shubie Drive Dartmouth.  Patrol officers along with a Police Service Dog responded to the area and conducted a through search of the area, but were not able to locate the suspect.  There is no suspect description at this time and the incident does not appear to be random.

Weapons Offence, Shots Fired

Members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a report of shots fired in Dartmouth last evening.

At approximately 9:20 p.m., police responded to the report of shots fired at a vehicle on Highway 111 in Dartmouth.  An older model dark coloured van approached the vehicle and the driver fired shots at the moving car.  The vehicle sustained damage to the rear, no persons were injured.  It is believed that the involved parties are known to each other. This matter remains under investigation at this time.

Halifax Regional Police are warning citizens after reported thefts from vehicles in Halifax.

Police have received at least ten reported thefts from vehicles which have occurred during the overnight hours in the area of Clayton Park.  Many of the reported incidents were in the area of Harlington Crescent, Willett Street, Gristmill Court, Covington Way and Westridge Drive.

In most cases, attractive objects were left in plain sight and in some cases, vehicles were left unlocked.

Thefts from vehicles are usually crimes of opportunity. Visible items tempt would-be thieves. Citizens should remove all items from their vehicles (purses, tablets & laptops, satellite radios or other equipment that appears valuable). If it is absolutely necessary to leave items in a vehicle, they should be locked in the trunk out of plain sight before arriving at your destination.

keep your vehicle free from clutter; even an empty shopping bag can create the appearance that there’s something in your car worth stealing.

A man faces human trafficking, weapons and additional charges after an investigation by the General Investigation and Special Enforcement Sections of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

On December 16 officers were called to investigate an assault that had occurred the night before. A seventeen-year-old female youth had reported being threatened and repeatedly assaulted by a twenty-one-year old Cole Harbour man.  During the course of the investigation the female youth disclosed that the man directed and influenced her, for the purpose of prostitution.

Thieves make off with laptops

December 18, 2018, Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia … At 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, Halifax District RCMP responded to an intrusion alarm at a business on Cole Harbour Rd. in Cole Harbour. Upon arrival, officers discovered the front door had been smashed which enabled suspects to enter the business.

The investigation has determined that approximately 20 laptops, with a value over $10,000, were stolen during the break and enter.

The investigation is continuing with assistance from the RCMP Forensics Identification Section.

A male entered the business, he had a knife and demanded cash from the employee that was working.  Male suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, there were no injuries. Suspect described as male, approx. 5’7”, handkerchief covering his face, wearing a hat, jeans, dark grey sweater.

At approx. 5:30pm on Monday, December 17, Halifax Regional Police responded to a Robbery at Irving, 5450 Inglis St, Halifax. A male entered the business, he had a hand gun and demanded cash from the employee that was working.  Male suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, there were no injuries. Suspect described as white male, approx. 5’8”-5”10”, medium build, black scarf covering his face from the nose down, wearing a grey hoodie with Old Navy across the chest, and jeans.
