Pictou County – Unsolved Crimes

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in solving the following crimes which occurred in Pictou County Nova Scotia.

On March 18, 2011 RCMP were dispatched to a complaint at the school bus garage located at the East Pictou School in Sutherland’s River. A school bus was extensively damaged. No suspects have yet been identified.

On March 3, 2011 Pictou County District RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter in which an unknown suspect (s) broke into a travel trailer located at Matheson Road, New Lairg, Nova Scotia and proceeded to steal a 17 inch television and various CDs.

Theft of Paintings – Dartmouth

Police Requesting Publics Assistance

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the publics assistance in connection with a theft of art work that occurred last week in Dartmouth.

On Wednesday, March 23, police were called to Evergreen House on Newcastle Street in regards to a theft of two paintings. Today, investigators are releasing pictures of the paintings in hopes that they will be located or returned safely.

The first painting is an unsigned work that depicts ships between the islands on the western side of Mahone Bay, NS. The date of this work is unknown but it is thought to have been painted in the late 1800s and is approximately 9 long and 5.5 wide.

The second is by J.E. Elliott and depicts ships in Halifax Harbour, perhaps from a Point Pleasant Park vantage point, with a woman in a white dress on the shore. It was painted in 1887 and is approximately 18 long and 11.5 wide.

Theft of Gas – Goldboro

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person responsible for a gas and dash.

On Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 18:00, approximately $300-400 worth of fuel was stolen from two tanks located at 441 Goldbrook Road, Goldboro, Nova
Scotia. The suspect vehicle is a blue or black Ford F-150 with wooden railings on the box.

Theft of Cable – Colchester County

Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance in solving a number of theft s in Colchester County Nova Scotia

A number of telephone wire thefts from telephone poles in the Colchester County area of Nova Scotia. The wire is likely being targeted for the copper content, hich is relatively low in this particular wire. Although the total value of the wire taken is minimal, there is a public safety issue as areas are left without access to 911 or other services when the telephone wire is cut. Three sites have been targeted in Colchester County thus far– two in the Onslow area, one in Pleasant Valley. Subjects are cutting the telephone wires on telephone poles at the ground and then again 5-6 feet up the pole. This wire is unique to Bell Aliant and anyone found in possession of such wire has likely stolen it.

Theft of Motor Cycle – Tantallon

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in solving the following case of theft of a motor cycle.

On January 20, 2011, Halifax District RCMP-Tantallon Office responded to a report of a break and enter into a residence St. Margaret’s Bay Road in Lewis Lake. The break had occurred between 0645 hrs and 1230 hrs while the residents were at work. The suspects gained entry to the residence by prying a set of double steel doors that led into the basement area. Once inside the suspects located and stole a 1997 Harley Davidson Ultraglide which was being stored in the basement. The motorcycle had been advertised for sale on Kijiji for two weeks prior to the theft.

Attempted Arson – Cow Bay

SOLVED

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in identifying the persons and vehicle depicted in the photos. It is believed the males were responsible for attempting to burn the residence at 1086 Cow Bay Road on the evening of

January 26th, 2011. The males attempted to throw a Molotov cocktail through the window of the residence while a third person was standing by in a nearby vehicle.

* Copper line twisted off (2.5 feet).
* Loss of approximately one (1) gallon of oil.

B-139 Main Street (Duart Hardwood Floors) Dart, NS
* Occurred between: 11-01-26 at 1050 hrs – 11-01-27 at 0800 hrs
* Copper line twisted off (appears as though no tool used).
* Loss of approximately 1125 liters of furnace oil.

* Occurred between: 11-01-26 at 1900 hrs – 11-01-27 at 1000 hrs.
* Copper line taken
* ½ tank of furnace oil taken.

* Occurred between: 11-01-26 at 2130 hrs – 11-01-27 at 1700 hrs.
* Copper line twisted off.
* Approximately 232 liters of furnace oil taken.

Break and Enter – Hammonds Plains

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in solving a break enter and theft which occurred in Hammonds Plains Nova Scotia.

On January 4th 2011 a home was broken into on Half Way Lake Drive. The only items that were taken are as follows:

Sony 60″ 3D flat screen T.V., apparently there might only be a few in the Maritimes.
Sony Blue Ray DVD player.
Sony Sound System
Sony 3D glasses, (4 pairs)
H.P. laptop computer.

The home owners had only been gone for a few hours when unknown person(s) pried open a window in the back of the residence and gained entry.
