The wire is likely being targeted for the copper content, hich is relatively low in this particular wire. Although the total value of the wire taken is minimal, there is a public safety issue as areas are left without access to 911 or other services when the telephone wire is cut. Three sites have been targeted in Colchester County thus far– two in the Onslow area, one in Pleasant Valley. Subjects are cutting the telephone wires on telephone poles at the ground and then again 5-6 feet up the pole.
