Police release photo of suspect involved in assault and attempted robbery

Halifax Regional Police is asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect in relation to an assault and attempted robbery that occurred in Halifax last month.

On December 22, 2023, at approximately 8:10 a.m. officers responded to a report of an assault that occurred outside of a residence on Harvard Street. A homeowner observed an unknown person in their vehicle. The suspect struck the homeowner with a hammer when they confronted him. The suspect threatened the owner and attempted to steal the vehicle before fleeing the area on foot.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’5” to 5’6” tall, wearing a dark-coloured jacket, jeans and a fabric face mask.

Man wanted on province-wide arrest warrant

January 3, 2024, Windsor, Nova Scotia… West Hants RCMP Detachment is requesting public assistance to locate John Allan Russell Warner of Windsor.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of John Allan Russell Warner, 44, of Windsor, in relation to breaches of conditions of his parole.

Warner  is described as 5-foot-8, 225 lbs. He has dark brown hair and green eyes.

Police have made several attempts to locate Warner, however are requesting assistance from the public.

Help Parsborro RCMP solve truck theft

On 2024-01-02, Cumberland District RCMP received a complaint that a 5500 Series Dodge was stolen on 2024-01-02 at approximately 1200 am from C E Harrison Ltd on Hwy 2 in Halfway River, NS, along with a goose neck trailer (trailer has been recovered). A small car dropped off a male at the location around midnight. Some tools were taken, as well along with a set of keys. The stolen truck is a Home Hardware flat deck service truck with Harrison’s Home Hardware on the side and is bright yellow in color.

Halifax District RCMP investigating home invasion

January 2, 2024, Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is investigating a home invasion that occurred at a home on St. Margaret’s Bay Rd. in Upper Tantallon.

On January 1, 2024, at approximately 11:47 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion on St. Margaret’s Bay Rd. in Upper Tantallon. RCMP officers learned that two men entered the home and restrained a man and a woman. The suspects then took several items including cash before fleeing the home in a black 2022 Chevrolet Silverado.

The victims were able to free themselves and contact police. The victims were not physically injured and were the only occupants of the home.

The Silverado was located a short time later on Hwy. 103 near exit 2. The vehicle was seized and will be processed by the RCMP Forensic Identification Services.

Halifax District RCMP members, assisted by the Halifax Regional Police, patrolled the area but the suspects were not located.

The suspects were wearing ski masks and dark coloured hoodies, one man is described as being 6-foot-3 and the other one 5-foot.

Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit continue to investigate the disappearance of Zachery Lefave

December 28, 2023, Plymouth, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia…This Monday, January 1, will mark three years since Zachery Lefave disappeared.

On January 1, 2021, at approximately 12:15 a.m., 21-year-old Zachery Lefave, of Hebron, was last seen walking on Hwy. 334 in Plymouth. At the time, he was talking on the phone.

Over the last 3 years, the investigation has involved searches by ground search and rescue teams and RCMP Police Dog Services, including an RCMP cadaver dog team. The investigation is being led by the Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit, with assistance from members of Yarmouth Rural RCMP, Yarmouth Town RCMP, Yarmouth RCMP General Investigation Section, Yarmouth/Clare Street Crime Enforcement Unit, RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Meteghan RCMP, Shelburne RCMP and Lunenburg District RCMP.

On August 18, 2023, at the request of the Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit, Zachery’s case was added to the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Reward for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the disappearance of Zachery.

Shelburne RCMP investigating armed robbery

December 28, 2023, Shelburne, Nova Scotia… Shelburne RCMP Detachment is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a gas station on Falls Ln. in Shelburne.

On December 26, 2023, at approximately 10:56 p.m., Shelburne RCMP Detachment responded to a report of an armed robbery at a gas station on Falls Ln. in Shelburne. RCMP officers learned that a man had entered the gas station and demanded money from the cashier while pointing what appeared to be a firearm at them. The man fled the scene on foot heading towards Wrights Rd. The employee was not physically injured during the incident.

The man was wearing a black face mask, black jacket, black pants, and had a brown mustache visible from underneath his mask. Surveillance video shows a white compact sedan, possibly a Hyundai Elantra, traveling south on Water St. It is believed this vehicle may have picked up the man on Wrights Rd.

Police investigate shooting

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a shooting that occurred in Dartmouth yesterday.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. police received a report of gunshots in the area of Mount Edward Road that had occurred earlier in that morning. Officers were able to locate shell casings in the area and it is believed the sots occurred at approximately 2 a.m. No damage was located to any vehicles or residences in the area and there were no reported injuries.

Police Investigate Shooting in North Preston

December 26, 2023, North Preston, Nova Scotia… The HRP/RCMP Guns and Gangs Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a shooting that occurred in North Preston.

At approximately 1:09 a.m. December 25, Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a shooting that had occurred on Cain St. in North Preston. Police found a residence and a nearby parked automobile were damaged. Nobody was injured in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the HRP/RCMP Guns and Gangs Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division. The investigation has been assisted by Halifax District RCMP, Halifax Regional Police and RCMP Forensic Identification Services.

Police continue to investigate the murder of Lee’Marion Shancez Cain

Today marks the second anniversary of the murder of Lee’Marion Shancez Cain and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On December 21, 2021, at approximately 4 p.m., officers responded to a shooting involving two vehicles that had occurred near the intersection of Windmill Road and Wadell Avenue in Dartmouth. Shots were fired from the suspects at another vehicle hitting a 26-year-old man and Lee’Marion. They were transported to hospital where Lee’Marion died as a result of his injuries and the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Video footage has been a key part of the investigation and has provided that at least two suspects were involved in the homicide and helped investigators identify and locate the vehicle believed to be used by the suspects. The suspects are described as Black men in their 20s-30s who were driving a burgundy Chevrolet Equinox, with tinted windows.

Investigators know there are people who have information that could help solve Lee’Marion’s case. This is a tragic death that deeply affected many in our community. Our investigators believe that even the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.
