RCMP seeking information about mischief at BLT trail access points

November 5, 2024, Timberlea, Nova Scotia… RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is investigating mischief at controlled access points along the Beechville-Lakeside-Timberlea (BLT) trail system.

On November 3, at approximately 10:30 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of mischief on the BLT trail from Timberlea to Hubley. At this time, it’s believed that a total of ten gates preventing motorized access were vandalized sometime during the previous night. Damage is estimated in the thousands of dollars.

As the investigation continues, investigators are appealing to the public for information.

Man wanted on province-wide arrest warrant

November 4, 2024, Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia… RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is seeking information on the whereabouts of a man currently wanted on a province-wide arrest following an incident in Eastern Passage.

Nicholas Arthur Lees, 45, from the Halifax Regional Municipality, is wanted and facing charges of Failing to Comply with a Release Order (two counts).

Lees is described as 6-foot, 200 lbs. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Police have made several attempts to locate Lees, and are requesting assistance from the public.

Police investigate weapons incident

Halifax Regional Police is investigating an incident where a man was sprayed with a sensory irritant in Bedford last week.

On November 1, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a weapons call in the 0-10 block of Lake Drive. Officers located a 65-year-old man who had been sprayed with a sensory irritant. The victim was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male youth, approximately 15 to 17-years-old, and approximately 5’10” tall.  At the time of the incident, he was wearing all black clothing, a black hat, a black cross-body bag, and his face was covered.

RCMP seeking assistance to identify person of interest

November 1, 2024, Whites Lake, Nova Scotia… RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man involved in a break and enter in Whites Lake.

On October 31, at approximately 1:30 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a break and enter at a home near the 3000 block of Prospect Rd. Investigators learned that a man was seen breaking into the residence before leaving the area with valuables; he fled in a white Volkswagen Jetta.

A short time later, an RCMP officer observed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop but the driver refused pull over. In the interest of public safety, a pursuit was not initiated.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., the man of interest was seen fleeing on foot after the Volkswagen he was driving crashed at the intersection of Prospect Rd. and St Margarets Bay Rd. in Beechville. A search was conducted with assistance from Police Dog Services and Halifax Regional Police, but the man was not located.

The man is described as white and in his mid-to-late twenties. He’s about 5-foot-8 and 150-160 lbs. He has short brown hair, a goatee and abrasions on his face and arms. At the time of the break-in, the man was wearing a grey t-shirt and dark pants.  

The investigation is ongoing.
