Police are investigating a theft from a motor vehicle in Bedford last week where an item of great sentimental value was stolen.

Police received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred in the overnight hours of March 8-9 on Jon Jacques Court. The suspect(s) broke into the vehicle and stole a quantity of cash and personal property.

One of the items stolen was a pendant that contained a family member’s remains. It is described as a long necklace, with a stainless-steel locket, engraved with a quote “My Grandma My Angel”. It has one angel wing & a small stone hanging beside the wing.

March 17, 2022, Lyons Brook, Nova Scotia… Pictou County District RCMP is asking for the public’s help in identifying two men in relation to a break and enter and theft at a store on Hwy. 376 in Lyons Brook.

Shortly before 6 a.m. on March 13, 2022 officers responded to a break and enter at a convenience store on Hwy. 376 in Lyons Brook. Police learned that two men gained entry to the store and stole approximately $3,000 in cigarettes and cash.

The first man is described as white with a slim build. He was wearing a blue hooded sweater, with white lettering on the left arm and white lettering on the upper right shoulder, dark boots and a white non-medical mask. The man was carrying a wooden baseball bat with a black ring around the middle of the bat.

The second man is described as a white man who was wearing a dark-coloured hooded sweater, a red t-shirt underneath, and blue jeans.

Police are investigating eight incidents of theft from a grocery store in Dartmouth and are asking for the public’s assistance identifying the suspect.

Between January 16 and March 6, police have received eight reports of a man entering the Atlantic Superstore on Braemar Drive and stealing groceries. 

The suspect is described as a white man in his twenties to thirties with short dark hair. At the time of the incidents, the man was wearing a black coat, a hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants.

Police are investigating two break and enters into the laundry room of an apartment building in Halifax.

On December 22 and again on December 23, 2021 a man broke into an apartment building on North Street and proceeded to break into the laundry room. The suspect damaged the laundry machines and took a quantity of cash.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s to 40s, approximately 200 lbs. and 5’8” to 5’10” tall.

Police are investigating an incident where a taxi driver was assaulted and his vehicle was stolen earlier this month in Halifax.

On March 6 at approximately 7:10 p.m., police responded to a report that a taxi driver had been assaulted and his vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of the Atlantic Superstore on Joseph Howe Drive. Two women took a taxi from the 2500 block of Creighton Street in Halifax to the Superstore. The taxi driver waited in the parking lot with one woman while the other woman went into the store. When she returned to the taxi, both women placed the groceries in the vehicle and then assaulted the taxi driver and stole his vehicle. The taxi driver was not physically injured.

The taxi’s GPS was located in the area of London and Connolly streets shortly after the incident. The taxi was located the next day on West Street in Halifax. It is described as a golden brown four-door Toyota Camry with a taxi roof light.

The first suspect is described as being in her late teens or early twenties with blonde hair and wearing a light grey coat and dark pants.

The second suspect is described as a woman in her fifties with a medium build and her hair in ponytail.

March 11, 2022, Upper Wedgeport, Nova Scotia…Yarmouth Rural RCMP is investigating a home invasion, where firearms were stolen, at a home on Martin Rd. in Upper Wedgeport.

On March 8 at approximately 6:15 p.m., two men entered a home on Martin Rd. in Upper Wedgeport. Both men were wearing masks, one of them was armed with a knife and the other with a metal rod. The men demanded that the firearms in the home be given to them, or they would harm the homeowner if he didn’t comply. The victim gave the men three pellet guns, four rifles, ammunition and their cellular phone. The men then fled the scene in a grey hatchback. The victim was not injured during this incident and was the only one home at the time.

The men are described as white, between 20 and 30 years old, one man is tall and thin, the other is approximately 5-foot-6 with a beard.

Investigators continue to gather information and evidence and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owners of the grey hatchback, which is believed to be an older model Hyundai.

The hatchback was captured on video surveillance in the area and police are also asking that anyone with video surveillance in the Upper Wedgeport area, contact them at 902-742-9106. March 10, 2022, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia…Halifax District RCMP is investigating a hit and run that occurred at exit 1G of the Hwy. 101/102 interchange in Lower Sackville. The vehicle that fled was a dark coloured Ford F-150. Police are appealing for information.Shortly before 5 p.m. on March 7, police responded to a hit and run at exit 1G of the Hwy. 101/102 interchange in Lower Sackville. Police learned that a dark coloured Ford F-150, driven by a man, was speeding and swerving through traffic on Hwy. 101 travelling towards Magazine Hill. The F-150 lost control which resulted in a collision with a red Hyundai Accent. The Accent sustained damage to the driver side mirror. The F-150 then fled the scene as smoke rose from it. No one was injured in the collision.

Halifax District RCMP is looking for information from anyone who may have been on the 101 leading up to the time of the incident and saw the truck and anyone who may have witnessed the incident. Today marks the fifteenth anniversary of the murder of Michael Thomas Forgeron and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

Michael was found deceased by friends at a residence on Convoy Avenue in Halifax on March 9, 2007. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and ruled Michael’s death a homicide.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that has not yet been provided to police that could help solve Michael’s murder. We hope that the passage of time may encourage someone to do the right thing and come forward with what they know.

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the murder of Kevin Sean Farren, and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On March 9, 2012 at approximately 2:25 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at an address on Havenbrook Hill in Dartmouth. When officers arrived, they located Kevin Farren deceased inside the residence. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and ruled Kevin’s death a homicide.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Kevin’s murder. We are asking anyone with information to do the right thing and come forward with what they know; even the smallest piece of information could be the key to progressing the investigation into Kevin’s murder.

Police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred in Halifax on the weekend.

On March 5, police received a report of an assault that had occurred at approximately 8:35 a.m. on Quinpool Road near Windsor Street. A man in his seventies was walking in the area when a dog that was not on a leash started to jump on him. When the man attempted to push the dog away with his leg, the owner of the dog approached him and punched him in the face. The suspect took his dog and left the area on foot. The man went to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 6’2” tall with a greyish beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing silver wire rim glasses, a puffy coat, dark pants and boots. The dog is described as large with black curly hair.
