On January 10, 2018 Sheet Harbour RCMP recovered the following four outboard boat motors on Highway 7 in Spry Bay. The engines were hidden in the woods and police are trying to track down the owners to return them. The following are the motors that were seized.

Sometime between 0730 hrs and 1430 hrs.on 2018-01-18 a 2015 black Dodge ram bearing Nova Scotia licence plate FVL240 was stolen from the South Rawdon area.

The truck had under half a tank of gas, fixed on the rear back window, top left/drivers side, is a decal approx. 5 X 5 inches in size with the number “21” in the color red.

A break and enter occurred sometime between January 14th and January 17th@ 0730hrs in Kentville. Several firearms and cheques were stolen.

January 17, 2018, Hants County, Nova Scotia . . . Windsor District RCMP is investigating four separate thefts of copper wire from Nova Scotia Power sub-stations. The thefts occurred between January 1 and 12, and each time, the lock was cut, the premises was entered, and copper wire was cut and removed.

Nova Scotia Power prohibits public access to its sub-stations and other facilities that contain high voltage electrical equipment due to the high risk to personal and public safety. Anyone who unlawfully enters these premises is risking severe injuries to themselves and significant damage to onsite equipment.

The RCMP would like anyone who has information about these thefts to contact them – whether the information is about the thefts or if the wire is being re-sold. Just after 3 p.m. on January 9, Halifax District RCMP responded to an assault that took place at a business on Sackville Dr. Two males and two females were in a business when they were confronted by a loss prevention officer after one of the males attempted to leave the business without paying for a product. While being spoken to, the two males proceeded to assault the loss prevention officer then fled the business.

Crime Stoppers and Colchester District RCMP and are asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible for smashing vehicle windows overnight on January 9, 2018 in Coldstream Nova Scotia.

The suspect(s) targeted a white 2014 Toyota Corolla and a grey 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt parked in the driveways of two separate homes on Coldstream Rd. Nothing was reported stolen from the vehicles.

January 12, 2018, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia . . . In the early hours of Monday, January 8 and Friday, January 12, Antigonish District RCMP, along with Tracadie Volunteer Fire Department and Havre Boucher Volunteer Fire Department, responded to 2 separate house fires. The homes were abandoned and neither had power or a heat source. Both homes were fully engulfed when fire fighters arrived on scene and were complete losses. No-one was injured in either instance.

Property owners are asked to regularly check abandoned properties to ensure they are secure, and to report suspicious activity to police.

Antigonish District RCMP is investigating the matter, with assistance from the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal’s Office. January 12, 2018, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia … Tire changing equipment valued at over $15,000 stolen by thieves.

Halifax District RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating those responsible for breaking in to an automotive business on Sackville Dr. in Lower Sackville, between 7 p.m. on December 30 and 11 a.m. on December 31. Items taken included a Snap-on Tire changer, a Snap-on Motorized Wheel Balancer and 2 Snap-on impact guns.

On December 25th 2017 at 04:45AM Meteghan RCMP and Saint Bernard fire Department received a 911 call of a fire at a lobster pound on Little Paradise Road in Saint Bernard. Investigation revealed the cause of the fire to be suspicious and the Meteghan RCMP continue to investigate.

Further evidence suggests that this fire is related to a second suspected case of arson which happened on October 9th in Comeauville Digby County. On that date the fishing vessel Buck and Doe became engulfed in the flames and floated out to sea where it sank.

January 7 was the fifth anniversary of the homicide of Raymond Floyd Peters and the Homicide Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On January 7, 2013, at 5:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Primrose Street and Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth. Twenty-four-year-old Raymond Peters was shot several times in the backyard of this location, however, he was able to run to a residence on Jackson Road where he took refuge in an apartment. He was transported to hospital where he passed away from his injuries on January 8.

The suspect, who fled on foot, was described as a black man in his 20’s, 5’8”, with a medium build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue hoodie and black pants.
