Police Investigate Offensive Graffiti

 

On September 9, 2018 Halifax Regional Police responded to two (2) reports of graphic and offensive graffiti. One location was the area of Sullivan’s Pond in Dartmouth, where symbols were spray painted in several locations. The second location was 31 Woodlawn Rd, Prince Andrew High School Park, where numerous such symbols were spray painted on the back of the school. The graffiti appears to have been done overnight. Police are in the early stages of investigation, and members of the Forensic Identification Section are gathering photographic evidence from the scenes.

Theft/Assault

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man in relation to an incident that occurred at a Sobeys in Dartmouth in May.

On May 9, 2018, at approximately 6 p.m. officers responded to a report of Loss Prevention Officer who had been assaulted when he attempted to arrest a man for theft from the Sobeys on Tacoma Drive in Dartmouth.

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 25-35 years-of-age, 5’8” tall, 170 lbs with short dark hair. At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a black track jacket, gray sweatpants and a unique gray baseball cap with a zebra print bill, a dolphin logo and “pink+ dolphin” written on the side.

Looking for Suspect in Halifax Robbery

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred during the early morning hours.

 

At 12:45 p.m. on September 4, officers attended the QE11 Hospital for a male who came to hospital reporting he had been assaulted sometime overnight.  The male 45 year old victim told police he had been sleeping in his vehicle, a white SUV, in the parking lot of the Superstore at 1075 Barrington St. in Halifax.  Some time during the early morning hours he was awoken by a male suspect tapping on his window asking for a light for a cigarette.  When he put down his window he was struck on the head by an unknown object and lost consciousness.  When he woke later in the morning he realized his wallet and a sum of cash was missing.  The male was treated and released from hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

The suspect is described as a male possibly wearing a white jacket.

 

The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP look to identify person of interest in thefts from vehicles in Mosquodoboit Harbour

September 5, 2018, Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying a person of interest after several unlocked vehicles were entered and items were stolen from driveways along Highway 7. As well, a vehicle was stolen in the area during this time. These incidents took place in the Musquodoboit Harbour area between August 18 and 19.

September 2, 2018, Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia . . . At 2:19 p.m. on September 1, someone attempted to move a Toyota Rav4 from its parking spot near the gift shop at Peggy’s Cove. The person who tried to move the vehicle wasn’t successful, and they appear to have left the SUV in neutral before leaving the vehicle. He is described as a man in his forties with black hair. It was parked on a slight incline, and it began to roll. It knocked one woman down and ran over her hand, then pushed another woman against a large rock. Neither woman suffered serious injuries but both were transported to hospital via EHS. The man is described as being in his forties with black hair.

Halifax District RCMP is continuing its investigation into this incident. They are attempting to find out who tried to move the SUV. This person was not the owner of the vehicle, just a bystander who attempted to move it out of the way as it was blocking traffic. Police Continue to Investigate the 2016 Murder of Rickey Walker

 

Tomorrow will mark the second anniversary of the murder of Rickey Walker, and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

At approximately 2:50 a.m. on September 1, 2016, 48-year-old Rickey Walker was located in medical distress behind John McNeil Elementary School at 62 Leaman Drive in Dartmouth. He was subsequently transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. An autopsy confirmed Rickey’s death as a homicide.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve his murder, and hope that the passage of time encourages someone to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. Theft of Trailer

Crime stoppers is asking for the public’s help in locating and apprehending the person or persons responsible for the theft of a trailer from White’s Lake Nova Scotia on July 19th, 2018.

The trailer is described as a 32 foot Coachman, model  Catalina, 2017, Gray/truffle-light in color, NSL T386330.  Serial 5Z2TCAXB9HT0009382.

Another ATV stolen in Hants County

Overnight on August 26th, 2018, a 2013 White Kawasaki Teryx 750 bearing NS licence plate GR635 was stolen from Kennetcook area of East Hants. The side by side has new tires, installed two weeks ago.

Yamaha Raptor ATV Stolen in Windsor area

Sometime between August 16, 2018 at 09:00 hours and August 17th at 17:00 hours, unknown suspects stole a black 2015 Yamaha Raptor 700 Special Edition ATV. The ATV was parked behind a residence in the 900 block of Windsor Back Road, Three Mile Plains, Hants County. All keys have been accounted for. The exhaust system is very loud and the push bar is bent or broken at the rear. Police Continue to Investigate Murder of Jason MacCullough

Today marked the ninteenth anniversary of the murder of Jason MacCullough and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

Jason’s body was found on a paved path between 100 and 104 Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 1999. There is no indication the 19-year-old was involved in any type of criminal activity, leading investigators to believe his death was a random act.

It is believed Jason was passing through the area while walking home and used the well-known short-cut between the buildings. Investigators believe there were several people in the area at the time of the homicide and strongly believe there were witnesses to the crime. Investigators continue to urge these people to come forward and report anything that they remember about this day, no matter how small the detail.
