RCMP seeking information about a hate motivated mischief

February 14, 2024, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is investigating a hate motived mischief that occurred in Lower Sackville.

On February 12, at approximately 12:30 p.m., while on patrol, an officer of the RCMP Community Action Response Team from Halifax Regional Detachment observed various forms of graffiti spray painted in the snow near a tent located on a vacant property on Walker Ave.

Information and evidence gathered by investigators indicates that the mischief was motivated by hate based on race and religion.

The RCMP takes incidents of hate with utmost seriousness and condemns these criminal acts.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police investigate downtown Halifax stabbing

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a stabbing that occurred in Halifax last night.

Officers received a report of an injured person in the area of the 2100 block of Barrington Street. An altercation had occurred at that location at approximately 8:40 p.m. Two men were in a dispute with the victim, who was not known to them. One of the men stabbed the victim before fleeing the area on foot. The victim was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect with the knife is described as a man in his 40s, approximately 6’2” tall.

The second suspect is described as a white man in his 40s, with grey facial hair and wearing a green camouflage coat.

Police investigate North End Halifax robbery

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax last week.

On February 9 at approximately 9:40 p.m. officer responded to a robbery that had occurred in the area of Duffus Street and Novalea Drive. Two youths approached a man, who was traveling on a Halifax Transit bus, and demanded his property. One of the youths produced a knife as they threatened the man. The man fled the bus and was initially chased by the suspects before they fled the area on foot empty-handed.

The suspect with the knife is described as a Black male youth in his teens, approximately 5’7″ tall with a slender build, wearing a white hooded sweater, black pants and a bandana.

The second suspect is described as a Black male youth in his teens, approximately 5’5″ tall, with curly hair, wearing a blue hooded sweater and red pants.

Police continue to investigate the murder of Brandon Reginald Polegato

Today marks the third anniversary of the murder of Brandon Reginald Polegato, and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On February 7, 2021, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint at an address in the 600 block of Washmill Lake Drive in Halifax. Officers located Brandon deceased inside the building. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Brandon’s murder. They are asking anyone with information to do the right thing and come forward with what they know; even the smallest piece of information could be the key to progressing the investigation.

Brandon’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. Police continue to investigate the murder of Nathaniel Maurice Brown

Sunday marks the first anniversary of the murder of Nathaniel Maurice Brown, and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On February 4, 2023, at approximately 11:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting on Lahey Road in Dartmouth. Officers located 36-year-old Nathaniel Maurice Brown outside of a residence who had been shot. Nathaniel was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators do not believe that this was a random incident and that there are people who have information that could help solve Nathaniel’s murder. Help Cumberland RCMP solve orange Kubota theft

On Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at approximately 1950 hrs, 2-3 males entered the parking area behind the Landfill Offices, in Little Forks, Cumberland County, and took a 2008 Orange Kubota RTV 1100, with a dump trailer on the back (Photo of actual vehicle attached).

Meteghan RCMP Detachment investigating hit and run causing serious injuries

January 30, 2024, Church Point, Nova Scotia… Meteghan RCMP Detachment is investigating a hit and run, resulting in serious injuries, that occurred in Church Point.

On January 27, at approximately 3:17 p.m., Meteghan RCMP Detachment, fire and EHS responded to a report of collision involving an ATV and a pickup truck on Patrice Rd. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a Black 2016 Can-Am Outlander was traveling on the road when it was struck by a Black GMC Sierra.

Following the collision, the Black GMC Sierra quickly fled the scene driving onto a neighboring property in doing so.

The rider of the ATV, a 49-year-old Church Point man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.

At this time, investigator believe that the GMC Sierra may be an extended cab model.

Police investigate robbery  

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred this morning in Dartmouth.

At 12:44 a.m. hours on Saturday January 27th, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Needs Convenience Store located at 100 Highfield Park Drive, in Dartmouth.  A man and a woman entered the store and the woman produced a handgun while the male went behind the counter and removed cigarettes and money. Both suspects fled from the store on foot last seen running toward the bus terminal. The employee was not injured.

The male suspect is described as being a white man, approximately 6 foot in height, medium build. He was wearing a black sweater, a black puffy vest, brown Nike shoes, and carrying a black back pack with Canada written across the front. The female suspect is described as being a white woman, approximately 5’2” in height, medium build, wearing a black hoody with a green coloured logo on the front, black pants, black shoes, and wearing large black sunglasses.

Police investigate break and enter

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a break and enter into a jewelry store that occurred earlier this month and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects.

On January 2 police received a report of a break and enter that had occurred at La Mine d’Or Jewellers at 276 Bedford Highway. At approximately 12:30 a.m. that morning, two men broke into the business through the wall of an adjoining business that was also broken into. The suspects stole a quantity of jewelry and investigators believe that they fled the area in a vehicle.

The first suspect is described as approximately 5’9” tall, 250 lbs., wearing a blue pullover sweater with a “Hurley” logo on the front. The second suspect is described as a approximately 5’11” tall, 170 lbs and was wearing a grey zip up sweater. The suspect vehicle is described as gold coloured Toyota Camry or Coroll

RCMP seeking information to identify a person of interest involved in two incidents

January 25, 2024, Digby… Digby RCMP Detachment and Queens District RCMP are investigating a break and enter and a theft of vehicle involving the same person.

On January 23, 2024, at approximately 11:37 p.m. Digby RCMP Detachment responded to a commercial alarm on Prince William St. in Digby.

RCMP officers learned that the suspect gained access through the front door of the business and fled the scene in a blue Mazda with $8000.00 in merchandise. No employees were present at the time.

On January 24, 2024, at approximately 2:10 a.m. a black and yellow 2004 Ford truck was stolen from R&C WEARE LOGGING LTD., in Harmony Mills. A short time later, the truck was located nearby undamaged.  

Surveillance footage of the area shows a person of interest wearing a hat, a dark hoodie with “CAT” on the front and rubber boots at the time of the theft.
