Kings District RCMP investigating attempted armed robbery

September 25, 2022, Aylesford, Nova Scotia…Kings District RCMP is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred at a convenience store on Hwy. 1 in Aylesford.

On September 24, 2022, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Kings District RCMP responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery that had just occurred at a convenience store on Hwy. 1 in Aylesford. RCMP officers learned that a man had walked into the store and displays, what is believed to be a handgun, to an employee. The man demanded money before the fleeing the store on foot. No money was obtained by the man during the attempted robbery and the employee was not injured.

RCMP officers secured the area and an RCMP Police Dog Service team attended the area to search for the man. The RCMP Police Dog Service team were supported by members of the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response team during the search. The man was not located.

The man was wearing black clothing and a mask during the robbery. Witnesses outside the convenience store described him as a white man, with short black hair.

Weapons call

Members of the Patrol Division and the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating an injured person incident that occurred during the early morning hours in Dartmouth.

At approximately 1:09 a.m., police responded to a report of a male with a gunshot wound in the 40 block of Hastings Drive. Officers located a 23-year-old man with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The man was transported to hospital.

Police remain on scene in the area. Officers do not believe that this is a random incident. This matter is in the early stages of the investigation and limited details are available at this time.

Antigonish County District RCMP seeking to identify persons of interest

September 23, 2022, Saint Andrews, Nova Scotia…Antigonish County District RCMP is seeking to identify persons of interest in a break and enter that occurred on Hwy. 316 in Saint Andrews.

On June 5, 2022, at approximately 3 a.m., Antigonish County District RCMP responded to a report of a break-in at a convenience store on Hwy. 316 in Saint Andrews. RCMP officers learned that two people had smashed a window pane and gained access to the store. They stole bottles of liquor before fleeing the scene on foot.

RCMP officers have continued to gather information and evidence as it relates to this investigation and, they are now releasing video footage in an attempt to identify two persons of interest in the break-in investigation.

Police continue to investigate robbery

Police are continuing to investigate a robbery that occurred in Halifax earlier this year and are now releasing the suspect’s photo.

On July 6 at approximately 8:20 a.m. police responded to a robbery at the Needs Convenience store located at 6130 Chebucto Road. A man entered the store, threatened the employee and demanded money. He then fled the area on foot with a quantity of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

The suspect is described as 6’ tall, wearing a light grey cloth face covering, carrying two black backpacks and dressed in dark clothing.

Guysborough County District RCMP seeking information in mischief investigations

September 22, 2022, Lincolnville, Nova Scotia…Guysborough County District RCP is seeking information to further multiple mischief investigations, that they believe are related, in relation to incidents that occurred in Lincolnville and Upper Big Tracadie.

On September 17, 2022, at approximately 11:15 a.m., Antigonish County District RCMP received a report of damage to a port-a-potty, a mailbox and a small food pantry on Mattie Rd. in Upper Big Tracadie. The damage was believed to have occurred sometime overnight and it appeared that the items had been damaged by a vehicle.

Later in the day on September 17, Guysborough County District RCMP received a report of a roadside library in Upper Big Tracadie that had also been damaged sometime overnight.

On September 19, 2022, at approximately 7:35 a.m., Guysborough County District RCMP responded to a report of damage to paving equipment at a property on Gero Rd. in Lincolnville. RCMP officers learned that between September 16 and 19, someone had vandalized construction equipment and a port-a-potty with paint and, mobile traffic signal equipment and a skid steer were also damaged.

RCMP investigators have been gathering information and evidence as it relates to these incidents, and believe that they may be related. Investigators are seeking information from the public in an effort to further their investigations.

RCMP continue to investigate the disappearance of Kenley Matheson

September 21, 2022, Wolfville, Nova Scotia…Today marks 30 years since the disappearance of 20-year-old Allan “Kenley” Matheson from Wolfville.

In September 1992, Kenley was a student at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. During his first two weeks of university, he had travelled with some friends to Corkum’s Island in Lunenburg County for the weekend. He returned to Acadia and attended a party on campus on the weekend of September 18 and was seen by his sister and others at Crowell Tower (Acadia University) on September 20. He was last seen by a friend walking on Main Street in Wolfville on September 21 wearing blue jeans, a purple t-shirt, a red and black backpack and a ball cap. There has been no contact with family members or friends and there has been no activity on his bank account since.

In 2012, Kenley’s case was added to the the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Reward for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the disappearance for Kenley. In 2017, as part of the continuing RCMP investigation, RCMP investigators released an age progression sketch of what Kenley may look like. The RCMP and Kenley’s family continue to ask for the public’s help in hopes of obtaining new information to assist in the investigation.

Andrew Barker wanted on Province-wide arrest warrant

September 20, 2022, Windsor, Nova Scotia…West Hants District RCMP has obtained a warrant for the arrest of a man charged in a robbery from June 2022 and who has since failed to comply with conditions of his release.

Andrew Scott Barker, 45, of Brooklyn, is charged with Robbery, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Theft under $5,000, Possession of Stolen Property and Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order.

Barker is described as 5-foot-10, 150 pounds with dark brown hair and green eyes.

Police have made several attempts to locate Andrew Scott Barker, however are requesting assistance from the public.

Halifax District Major Crime Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in homicide investigation

September 20, 2022, East Preston, Nova Scotia… The Halifax District RCMP Major Crime Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in relation to a homicide investigation in East Preston.

On August 30, 2022, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious van parked behind a strip mall in East Preston. Upon arrival, RCMP officers discovered the body of a deceased male inside the vehicle.

The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Barry Angus Studley of Middle Sackville.

Investigators are looking for information regarding the whereabouts of Studley in the days leading up to August 30. And officers continue to appeal to the public for dashcam video taken in the 1900 block of Hwy. 7 between the evening of August 29 and into, and including, the morning of August 30.

Police Investigate Weapons Call – Dartmouth

At 7:46 p.m., on the 17th of September, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a Break & Enter with possible gunshots, in the 0-100 block of Faulkner Street Dartmouth.   Three males were observed fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.   

Multiple patrol officers and Police responded and confirmed no one was injured.  Officers were not able to locate the suspects.  There is no suspect description beyond three male adults.

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division and Patrol are conducting the investigation which is in the early stages.

Kings District RCMP investigating suspicious fire

September 16, 2022, Wolfville, Nova Scotia…Kings District RCMP is investigating a suspicious fire at a building on Main St. in Wolfville.

On September 16, at approximately 5:20 a.m., Kings District RCMP and the Wolfville Fire Department responded to a fire at a building on Main St. in Wolfville. RCMP officers learned that the building is directly behind an inn but been evacuated. No one was injured as a result of the fire. The Wolfville Fire Department, with assistance from a number of other fire departments, were able to extinguish the fire.

The fire has since been deemed suspicious and the scene is being held at this time. The investigation is ongoing and being assisted by the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal’s Office.
