Members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a report of shots fired in Dartmouth last evening.

At approximately 9:20 p.m., police responded to the report of shots fired at a vehicle on Highway 111 in Dartmouth.  An older model dark coloured van approached the vehicle and the driver fired shots at the moving car.  The vehicle sustained damage to the rear, no persons were injured.  It is believed that the involved parties are known to each other. This matter remains under investigation at this time.

Advisory: Thefts from vehicles.

Halifax Regional Police are warning citizens after reported thefts from vehicles in Halifax.

Police have received at least ten reported thefts from vehicles which have occurred during the overnight hours in the area of Clayton Park.  Many of the reported incidents were in the area of Harlington Crescent, Willett Street, Gristmill Court, Covington Way and Westridge Drive.

In most cases, attractive objects were left in plain sight and in some cases, vehicles were left unlocked.

Thefts from vehicles are usually crimes of opportunity. Visible items tempt would-be thieves. Citizens should remove all items from their vehicles (purses, tablets & laptops, satellite radios or other equipment that appears valuable). If it is absolutely necessary to leave items in a vehicle, they should be locked in the trunk out of plain sight before arriving at your destination.

keep your vehicle free from clutter; even an empty shopping bag can create the appearance that there’s something in your car worth stealing.

Police lay charges in human trafficking case

A man faces human trafficking, weapons and additional charges after an investigation by the General Investigation and Special Enforcement Sections of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

On December 16 officers were called to investigate an assault that had occurred the night before. A seventeen-year-old female youth had reported being threatened and repeatedly assaulted by a twenty-one-year old Cole Harbour man.  During the course of the investigation the female youth disclosed that the man directed and influenced her, for the purpose of prostitution.

Human trafficking is an offence that involves controlling, forcing, intimidating or deceiving a person in order to exploit them through various forms of sexual exploitation or forced labour. This crime can happen in communities of all sizes and unfortunately Halifax is not immune. Thieves make off with laptops

December 18, 2018, Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia … At 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, Halifax District RCMP responded to an intrusion alarm at a business on Cole Harbour Rd. in Cole Harbour. Upon arrival, officers discovered the front door had been smashed which enabled suspects to enter the business.

The investigation has determined that approximately 20 laptops, with a value over $10,000, were stolen during the break and enter.

The investigation is continuing with assistance from the RCMP Forensics Identification Section.

Police investigating Robbery

At approx. 6:31pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a Robbery at Personal Tailoring, 6251 Quinpool Road, Halifax. A male entered the business, he had a knife and demanded cash from the employee that was working.  Male suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, there were no injuries. Suspect described as male, approx. 5’7”, handkerchief covering his face, wearing a hat, jeans, dark grey sweater.

Police investigating Robbery

At approx. 5:30pm on Monday, December 17, Halifax Regional Police responded to a Robbery at Irving, 5450 Inglis St, Halifax. A male entered the business, he had a hand gun and demanded cash from the employee that was working.  Male suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, there were no injuries. Suspect described as white male, approx. 5’8”-5”10”, medium build, black scarf covering his face from the nose down, wearing a grey hoodie with Old Navy across the chest, and jeans. Police investigate break and enter

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in obtaining information in relation to a break and enter that occurred in Dartmouth yesterday.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m. police received a report of a break and enter that had occurred at Auto Shower located at 200 Waverley Road in Dartmouth. The suspects forced their way into the location and were able to remove an undisclosed amount of money that was taken from not only the business but the attached automatic teller as well. It is believed that the incident occurred some time in the over night.
