Police are investigating a report of shots fired that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

At approximately 4:25 p.m. police responded to a report of shots fired from a vehicle on Mayor Avenue in Halifax. Responding officers located a bullet hole in a residence. There were no reported injuries.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages and investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking anyone with information about this incident to call 902-490-5020. July 21, 2020, Plymouth, Nova Scotia . . . At 4 a.m., members of Pictou District RCMP responded to a call of an armed robbery at a service station on East River Rd. in Plymouth.

RCMP officers responded, and the learned that a lone suspect entered the store with a hatchet, and demanded cash and cigarettes from the cashier. There was no one else in the store at the time. The cashier complied, and no one was hurt. The suspect fled the store and the cashier pressed the panic alarm button, alerting police. Two witnesses who were outside saw the suspect get into the passenger side of a blue four door hatchback vehicle and quickly leave the area, towards New Glasgow on Park St.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6-foot tall with a heavy build, with a shaved head, wearing a black hoodie, dark shorts, white socks and black shoes. He was wearing a black face covering. An RCMP police dog and handler, as well as RCMP Forensic Identification Section, are assisting with the investigation.

The suspicious death of a woman who was found deceased on July 11 at an address in Dartmouth has been deemed a homicide.

At approximately 11:12 a.m., police responded to a report of a woman found deceased in a residence on Lynwood Drive. Information gathered during the investigation led investigators to believe the death of Eleanor Noreen Harding, 85, was suspicious.

The Medical Examiner has completed the autopsy and her death has been ruled a homicide.

The Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate Eleanor’s death and investigators are asking anyone who observed anything unusual in the area of Lynwood Drive between the evening of July 9 and the morning of July 10 to contact police.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the murder of Tyrone Oliver and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On July 20, 2000 at 11:08 p.m., officers responded to a report of several shots fired in the 2400 block of Creighton Street. Officers located 20-year-old Tyrone Oliver at a basketball court, suffering from multiple gunshots wounds. He was transported to hospital where he died later that night. Police also responded to two stabbings and an assault around the same time and in the same vicinity of the homicide and believe all four incidents are related.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Tyrone’s murder and we hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.

July 16, 2020, New Minas, Nova Scotia . . . Kings District RCMP are looking to identify witnesses and persons who may have helped a victim of an Assault with a Weapon in New Minas, NS.

Kings District RCMP responded to a call at 3:15 a.m. on July 11. The caller reported a female being dragged into the woods where it is alleged she was assault by a female and three males with a knife.

A female and male have been arrested in relation to this investigation:

· A 21-year-old female from Kentville has been remanded into custody and is facing charges of Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Failing to Comply with a Release Order. She will appear in Kentville Provincial Court on September 1.

· A 17-year-old male youth from Coldbrook was released on an Undertaking and is facing charges of Assault. He will appear in Kentville Provincial Court September 24, 2020.

The victim’s physical injuries were found to be minor. Police would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident, or may have witnessed it. The investigation to identify the other two males who were allegedly at the scene is ongoing.

July 16, 2020, Wallbrook, Nova Scotia . . . On July 14, at 10 p.m., Kings District RCMP responded to a call of a break and enter at a home on Gaspereau River Rd. in Wallbrook. When police arrived, the victim told them that 4 rifles, a shotgun and a pellet gun, along with ammunition and a quantity of cash and collectible coins were taken. The property has been used as an Airbnb rental and all items were stored securely in an area of the residence not accessible to Airbnb guests. All firearms had been properly secured and were stored in a locked gun safe.

On July 12, 2020 at approximately 5:20 a.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a shooting that had occurred in the 3500 block of Lynch Street in Halifax.

Police attended a residence in the area and located a 31-year-old man suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The man was transported to hospital for treatment. Police remain at the scene. The incident is not believed to be random.

The investigation is in its early stages and Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.

At 6:09 p.m., on the 12th of July, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a physical altercation between a group of adults with knives and bats near the intersection of Brunswick Street and Cornwallis Street, Halifax.

Multiple patrol officers responded and located some of the people involved. No one on scene was injured and no weapons were located. Officers discovered blood droplets in the area of the 2000 block of Brunswick Street. At the time it was is not known if the blood was related to the altercation. Investigators with the Forensic Identification Section processed the blood in the event an injured person was identified or come forward.

At 11:45 p.m., officers in Dartmouth located a 34 year old male with non-life threatening laceration injuries. Officers confirmed the male sustained the injuries during the physical altercation in Halifax. The injured male declined medical treatment.

The investigators believe the suspect and victim are known to one another. Investigators and are actively searching for the suspect. There is no suspect description at this time.

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation, which is in the early stages. It is not known at this time if charges are pending.

On Monday July 13 at approximately 5:10 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to an arson in progress on Green Street, New Glasgow. Police and fire arrived on scene and quickly extinguished a small fire on the front doorstep.

No one was injured at the scene and damage was contained to the front doorstep. One person was at the residence at the time of the incident.

Investigation revealed that the arson was the result of a bottle of gasoline that was ignited causing a combustion that lead to the fire.

Reports indicated that an unknown vehicle left the scene during the incident at a high rate of speed.

Halifax Regional Police are releasing the name of a woman who was found deceased at an address in Dartmouth on the morning of July 11.

Police received a report of a death that occurred at an address on Lynwood Drive in Dartmouth.

Officers located 85-year-old Eleanor Noreen Harding deceased in the residence. Information gathered during the investigation has led investigators to believe the death is suspicious. Members from the Special Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section of the Criminal Investigative Division are continuing to process the scene.

The investigation is in its early stages and details are limited at this time. Police are working in conjunction with the Medical Examiners Service and will provide additional information when available.
