Police investigating shots fired

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Halifax yesterday.

On December 2 at approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle hit and run in the area of Walnut Street and Jubilee Road where it was reported that an unoccupied parked vehicle had been struck. While conducting their investigation, officers located a spent shell casing on the ground. At this time, no injuries have been reported.

Police believe that the motor vehicle hit and run and shots fired are linked and are asking anyone with information or video from the area at the time of the incident to contact police at 902-490-5020. Police investigating theft of trailer and construction materials from business

Police are investigating the theft of a trailer and construction materials from a business in Dartmouth that occurred last month.

On November 17 police received a report of a theft that occurred on November 3 at Metro Roofing located at 95 Akerley Boulevard in Dartmouth. A trailer that was loaded with approximately $35,000 worth of tools and construction materials was stolen.

Police are releasing photos of a vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident. The vehicle is described as a 2016 Dodge Ram truck.

Police investigate shots fired

Police are investigating a report of shots fired that occurred earlier this month in Halifax.

On November 26 police received a report that shots had been fired on November 23 at approximately 1:15 a.m. in the area of Parkland Drive. Officers recovered a bullet from inside a residence in the 400 block of Parkland Drive. At this time, no injuries have been reported.

Police investigate robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax this afternoon.

At approximately 12:50 p.m. police responded to a robbery at the Superstore located at 1075 Barrington Street. A man came into the store, presented a firearm and demanded cigarettes. The man took a quantity of cigarettes and fled the area on foot. No one was physically injured.

The suspect is described as a black man, 25-35 years old, wearing a brown mask, a dark hooded jacket with camouflage print and dark pants.

Police investigating thefts of purses

Police are investigating three thefts of purses from shopping carts over the last two months.

Police are investigating three thefts, two that occurred on October 12 and November 20 at a grocery store and one that occurred on November 13 at a big box store, all on Mumford Road in Halifax. In each incident, one of the suspects approaches a woman and distracts her while the other suspect steals her purse from their shopping carts.

The first suspect is described as a white man in his forties, approximately 6’ tall, thin build with straight grey-blond hair and tattoos on his forearms.

The second suspect is described as a white woman, 25-35-years-old, approximately 5’4” tall, thin build with long blond hair and tattoos on her back and arms.

Police investigating suspicious circumstances 

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a suspicious circumstance call that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

At approximately 12:50 p.m. a 15-year-old youth who was waiting at the bus stop on the corner of Barrington Street and Duke Street was approached by a man who began making inappropriate comments toward the youth. The youth boarded a bus and the man followed the youth onto the bus continuing to make inappropriate comments. The youth was able to get off the bus in a public area while the man stayed on the bus. The youth reported the incident to a trusted adult.

The man is described as 20 to 25 years-old, Black male with a distinguished mustache with curls on the end. The man was wearing long white trench coat and holding a brown folder.

RCMP investigating fire at commercial fish plant

November 26, 2021, New Edinburgh, Nova Scotia…Meteghan RCMP is investigating a fire that occurred overnight at a commercial fish plant in New Edinburgh.

At approximately 10:10 p.m. yesterday, Meteghan RCMP was dispatched to a report of a fire at a commercial fish plant on Riverside Rd. in New Edinburgh. Multiple detachments and several local volunteer fire departments attended the scene. The building was fully engulfed and embers were jumping across the road. Due to concerns for neighbouring homes and structures, police evacuated residents until the fire could be extinguished.

The fire was extinguished shortly before 3 a.m. and the building was completely destroyed. No one was in the building at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Police held the scene overnight and the investigation is ongoing. At this time, the cause is unknown.

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth early this morning.

At approximately 12:01 a.m. police responded to a robbery at the Circle K and Irving gas station located at 10 Highfield Park Drive. A man armed with a knife came into the store and demanded money. The man took a quantity of money and then fled the area on foot.

The suspect is described as white, slim build, approximately 5’3” tall, 126 lbs., 30-40 years of age. At the time the man was wearing a green coat, red hoodie style sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, and a black face mask.

At approximately 5 p.m. two men got out of a van and attempted to grab a 10-year-old child who was walking on Olivet Street. The child did the right thing and ran away and reported the incident to a trusted adult.

Both men are described as 40-50 years old. One man is described as having a grey beard and wearing black clothing, and the other man is described as being bald.

Police investigating theft of firearms from business

Police are investigating the theft of a number of firearms from a business in Dartmouth that occurred earlier this morning.

At approximately 3:50 a.m. officers responded to an alarm at Nova Tactical located at 600 Windmill Road in Dartmouth. The suspects broke into the business and stole a number of firearms. The suspects fled prior to officers arriving on scene.

The incident remains under investigation by members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
