Police investigate homicide

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a homicide where remains were recovered yesterday.

On October 10, at approximately 9:40 a.m., officers responded to a well-being check at Quingate Place in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased woman. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service has ruled the death a homicide. The investigation is in the early stages and details are limited, but police do not believe this to be a random incident. Further information will follow when it becomes available.

Halifax Regional Police is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Jonathan William Pinsky, 41, who is a person of interest in this investigation. Pinsky is described as 5’2” tall and approximately 100lbs. He may be wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, cargo pants and a backpack. If he is seen, please do not approach him and call 911.

Lunenburg RCMP investigating robbery involving man who was hitchhiking

October 10, 2024, Pine Grove, Nova Scotia… Lunenburg District RCMP is seeking information from the public about a robbery near Pine Grove.

On October 7, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of a robbery from a man who was hitchhiking on Pinegrove Rd. Investigators learned that a white Chevrolet Malibu stopped near the man and the male driver approached him. The driver took the man’s bag, placed it in the trunk, and fled in the car.

The last known direction of travel for the Malibu was northwest on Hwy. 10 toward New Germany.

The man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries related to this incident.

The male driver was described as 5’11” with a smaller build, and had short, dark messy hair and a mustache. He was wearing sneakers, jeans, and a green and black plaid short-sleeved shirt. He was also said to have a South Shore accent.

Police investigate robbery in North Sydney

Cape Breton Regional Police are investigation a robbery that took place in North Sydney on September 15th, 2024.

The victim was in  the  area of Peppett Street walking to work when he was approached by the suspect and robbed.

Portable traffic light tower stolen from Bayhead

Colchester District RCMP reports that sometime between October 4th and October 7th, 2024 a 2023 Orange, Portable Light Tower was stolen from a construction site at 660 Highway 6 near Bayhead, NS.
The trailer is described as single axle, 4 outriggers, arrow board and solar panel.

Police continue to investigate the murder of Sheila Madore

Today marks the fourth anniversary of Sheila Madore being reported missing to police and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate her murder.

Sheila was reported missing to police on October 8, 2020 and she was last seen on July 23, 2020 in the Gottingen Street area of Halifax. On March 12, 2021, human remains were found in a wooded area near Elliot Street in Dartmouth. Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division working with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service identified the remains as those of Sheila.

Anyone with information about Sheila’s murder is asked to call police at 902-490-5020. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.

Sheila’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. Police investigate robbery

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax early Saturday morning.

On October 5 at approximately 5:55 a.m., officers responded to a robbery in progress at the McDonald’s restaurant, located at 201 Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. Staff reported that a man armed with a knife, demanded money then jumped over the counter and opened the cash register. The suspect fled on foot with a quantity of cash. Officers searched the area but were not able to locate the suspect. There were no reported physical injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 50s with a skinny build. He was wearing a black hooded sweater and dark pants at the time of the incident.

Falmouth, Hants County, NS. The ATV was last seen at the property the evening of October 4th, 2024. The

Help Cumberland RCMP solve ATV theft

Cumberland County RCMP received a report of a stolen 2020 Polaris Sportsman 850 from a business on
Wyvern Road in Collingwood Corner, Cumberland County, NS. The ATV was last seen abandoned on the
west bound side of Highway 104 shoulder, near Amherst, at approximately 8:30 AM on October 5th, 2024.
The ATV is black and blue in color with a front rack and a rear box/ seat attached that is black in color.

Queens District RCMP are investigating the theft of a 2008 Grey, Chevrolet Cobalt was stolen from Pleasant Street in Milton, NS. The vehicle is described as: a 4-door model, with sunroof, with alien stickers on the back, and a star sticker on the gas cap cover.
