Police investigate property damage and robbery

Halifax Regional Police is investigating property damage and a robbery that occurred in Halifax today.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. a man used a rock to smash a glass door at Trinity Jewelers, located at 6220 Quinpool Road in Halifax. The store was closed at that time, there were no staff on site, and nothing was stolen.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., officers responded to a robbery in progress at Jay’s Convenience Barn, located at 2340 Longard Plaza in Halifax. Staff reported that a man armed with a knife threatened them and demanded money and cigarettes. Staff were not injured but the suspect fled on foot with a quantity of cash and cigarettes. Officers searched the area but were not able to locate the suspect.

The suspect in both incidents is believed to be the same man.  

The suspect is described as a white man, 30 to 40-years-old, approximately 5’10” with a heavy-set build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a checkered flannel black and white shirt, a gray hooded sweater, a green camouflage shirt, blue jeans, and black and gray sneakers. The man also had a red bandana covering his face.
