Drugs seized following traffic stop

June 12, 2019, Eskasoni First Nation, Nova Scotia . . . On June 11, members of Eskasoni RCMP were conducting a check point on Shore Rd. in Eskasoni.  A vehicle came through the check point and the two men in the vehicle were arrested after police spotted marihuana inside. The two men and the vehicle were searched, and police seized Oxycodone and cash. The vehicle and a cell phone were also seized.

Vincent Dustin Francis, 33, of Eskasoni was charged with Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking. He appeared in Sydney Provincial Court on June 11 and was remanded until his next court appearance on June 13. The investigation is ongoing.

Eskasoni RCMP and the Chief and Counsel of Eskasoni First Nation are working together to address the community’s concerns about drug use in Eskasoni.
