Police Issue Warning to Burnside Business Owners & Operators

Halifax Regional Police is advising business owners and operators in the Burnside Business Park that there has been a recent increase in break & enters and thefts in the area.

Since June 5, police have received seven reports involving break & enters and/or thefts from businesses in the Burnside area. The incidents have occurred in the overnight hours and primarily on the weekends. The suspects have broken into either locked containers or motor vehicles. Stolen items include a variety of tools and tires.

Police have increased patrols in the area and Burnside Watch is in place, however, police encourage business owners and operators to be extra vigilant. It’s recommended that you make note of the serial number on tools and take a picture of the item to help identify it should it be recovered.

Robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred early Sunday morning in Halifax.

At 12:05 am Halifax Regional Police officers responded to a report of a robbery at Southgate Drive and Ravines Drive in Bedford. Three male suspects approached another vehicle with three males inside and demanded money and cell phones. One suspect had a knife, another suspect had a baseball bat. The three suspects fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money and personal belongings in their own vehicle.

Suspect #1 is described as a white male, with a tattoo on his face, carrying the knife.

Suspect #2 is described as a white male, grey hoodie, blue jeans.

Suspect #3 is described as a white male, camo hoodie, carrying a baseball bat.

Police Investigate Robbery – Dartmouth
At 8:10 p.m. 14 June, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of Robbery with a knife, at the Nine Locks Brewery, located at 219 Waverley Road Dartmouth.  A suspect entered with a knife and demanded money.  The suspect left with a undisclosed amount of money.  No one was injured and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.  Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, Forensic Identification Section and patrol officers responded. The investigation is in the early stages and ongoing at this time
The suspect is described:  Unknown White Male, approximately 30 years old, wearing Grey Hooded shirt, black track pants.

Police are currently investigating a robbery that occurred this afternoon in Dartmouth.

At 12 p.m. police responded to a report of a robbery at the One Stop Shop located at 269 Windmill Road in Dartmouth. Staff reported that a man entered the store with a knife in his hand and demanded money and cigarettes. The suspect fled the store in an unknown direction of travel with an undisclosed sum of money and cigarettes.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’6”, with an average build. He was wearing a zip-up style blue and grey hooded sweatshirt with horizontal stripes.

Stolen Boat

June 14, 2018, Tantallon, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is investigating after a boat was stolen from a wharf on Oakhill Pt. Lane in Tantallon. The owner awoke to discover the boat had been stolen sometime during the early morning on Tuesday.

At approximately 10:02 pm police responded to the 200 block of Lacewood Drive in Halifax to the report of a male at that location who had been stabbed.  Members attended and located a 22 year old male suffering from multiple injuries which were not life threatening.  The incident is reported to have happened elsewhere and at this time the details are limited.  It is unknown if the suspect and victim are known to each other. 18-87060

At 4:39 a.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Doubletree Hotel located at 101 Wyse Road in Dartmouth. Staff reported that a man entered the hotel lobby through the front door, approached the front desk, produced a knife and demanded cash. The suspect fled the hotel on foot towards Windmill Road with an undisclosed sum of money.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’9”, with an athletic build. He was wearing a white baseball cap with a Quebec Nordiques logo, black hooded sweatshirt and grey sweatpants.

RCMP warns of counterfeit currency incidents

June 9, 2018, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia…Nova Scotia RCMP would like to advise the public that over the past four weeks, there have been multiple investigations into primarily fifty dollar counterfeit bills circulating in Annapolis, Kings, Lunenburg and Yarmouth counties.  Some cases involve bills with symbols added, or, others that have been defaced. 

Passing counterfeit money is a crime. The RCMP reminds consumers to be diligent when accepting cash to avoid becoming a victim to these types of crimes, especially in light of the fact that if you unknowingly accept a counterfeit bill, you cannot be reimbursed. Police are currently investigating a robbery that occurred early Monday morning at Shoppers Drug Mart in Dartmouth.

At 1:16 a.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 80 Tacoma Drive in Dartmouth. A man entered the store, produced a hammer and demanded cash from an employee. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed sum of money.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’8” to 6’1” tall, with an athletic build. He was wearing a black and grey hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, a blue mask, dark sunglasses, brown and white checkered flannel pajama pants and black shoes.

Robbery with Violence

Police investigate robbery

Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth on June 9.

At 11:30 p.m., patrol members responded to the 0-100 block of Albro Lake Road for a report of a man who had broken into a residence and assaulted a woman. The woman awoke when she heard a man inside her residence demanding money. A physical altercation occurred between the two wherein both the man and the woman struck each other with objects. The man fled when a neighbour who heard the disturbance, yelled out to the victim. The woman was treated at the scene by EHS for non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’10” tall and 160 lbs. He was wearing a thick hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and drawn tightly around his face. He was last seen running towards Albro Lake Road.
