January 9, 2020, Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is asking for the public’s help to solve an arson that occurred in Beaver Bank on January 7.

At 10:20 p.m., Halifax District RCMP and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to a home on Danny Dr. after an incendiary device was thrown at the home.

Preliminary investigation determined that two suspects fled from the scene, got into a dark vehicle and drove away.

Police searched for the suspects with assistance from Halifax Regional Police K9 Unit but they were not located.

No one was injured as a result of the fire and the home sustained minimal damage.

The investigation is ongoing and led by the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

At 8:20 a.m. 8 January, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an injured male with a stab wound in the 50 block of Roleika Drive Dartmouth.  Patrol officers along with a Police Service Dog responded and located a 40-year-old male with a non-life-threatening stab wound.  Officers conducted a thorough search of the area, but could not locate the suspect.  The injured male has been transported to the hospital.  This incident is not random and both parties are known to each other.  Police have identified a suspect and are actively searching for the suspect.  There is no suspect description at this time.  Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.

January 7, 2020, Hubbards, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is asking for the public’s help to solve a suspected arson of a home in Hubbards.

On January 6, at approximately 6:35 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a structure fire on Conrad Rd. The investigation determined that the fire was suspicious in nature. Hubbards District Fire Department and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency attended and extinguished the fire. No one was injured as a result of the fire.

The investigation is ongoing.

January 6, 2020, Prime Brook, Nova Scotia . . . The RCMP’s Northeast Traffic Services in Cape Breton are asking for assistance with an impaired driving investigation. On December 29 at approximately 9 p.m., police responded to a call of a single vehicle collision on Hwy. 125 at Exit 7, Prime Brook. Police intend to lay charges in relation to this incident and believe that two people who provided assistance at the scene may have important information which would assist in the investigation.

The vehicle involved was a grey 2005 Chevrolet Impala. Prior to the police arriving at the scene, two people helped the female driver from the vehicle, and the RCMP would like to get in touch with both individuals. January 6, 2020, Digby County, Nova Scotia… Digby County RCMP is asking the public for information that may help identify human remains found on a beach in September.

On September 8 shortly after 9 a.m., a body was found on the beach in Sandy Cove in Digby County. The RCMP worked with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service and the remains have been identified as male. The RCMP is releasing photos of the man’s clothing with the hope that someone may recognize them. The circumstances that led to the man’s death have yet been determined and the case has been recently added to Canada’s Missing website. The investigation is ongoing.

January 6, 2019, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is investigating a report of shots fired in Lower Sackville.

At 11:50 p.m. on January 3, Halifax District RCMP received a complaint of gun shots being hear near Spinner Cres. and Stokil Dr. Preliminary investigation was unable to determine if shots were fired.

New Glasgow Regional Police is investigating an arson that occurred on Stewart Street New Glasgow, N.S.

Early morning on Sunday January 5th at approximately 7:00am, New Glasgow Fire Department and New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a three unit apartment building on Stewart Street.

The fire was was located in the rear of the apartment building, where only one apartment was occupied with two persons. The other two apartments were vacant at the time.

No one was injured as a result of the fire and both persons that were displaced because of the fire damage, were assisted by the Red Cross.

New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshall continue to investigate.

At approx. 9:25 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to 1145 Barrington St, Mobile Gas, for a Robbery that has just occurred. The suspect entered and handed the clerk a note demanding money and stating he had a gun. No gun was seen and there were no injuries. The suspect is described as white male, approx. 50-60 yrs old, slim build, red jacket, face partially covered with a scarf or face warmer. The suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing 43-year-old Dartmouth man.

Michael James Batty was last heard from in early November. He was reported missing to police on December 16, 2019.

Michael is described as a white man, 5’11”, 181 lbs. with dark hair. He is known to frequent the north end of Dartmouth.

There is no information to suggest that Michael has met with foul play, however, his family and police are concerned for his well-being.
