September 24, 2020, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… The RCMP/HRP integrated General Investigation Section is investigating an arson that occurred on September 22 in Lower Sackville.

At approximately 9:50 p.m. Halifax District RCMP were called to a structure fire on Metropolitan Ave. in Lower Sackville. Upon arrival, the structure was fully engulfed and Halifax Regional Emergency and Fire were on scene. The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature and no one was injured in the fire.

The investigation is ongoing.

September 23, 2020, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia…Halifax District RCMP would like to advise the public of two investigations where counterfeit currency was used in Lower Sackville.

On September 22, a man entered two businesses on Sackville Dr. and made a purchase at each business using a 100 US dollar bills. The bills were later determined to be counterfeit.

The currency is described as a 100 US dollar bill with serial number LB45440078L. The paper texture is described as smooth and the colour to be blueish/purple.

The suspect is described as white, in his 20s to 30s, approximately 5-foot-9. He was wearing a camouflaged coat, a white mask and dark pants.

Anyone in the area who handles currency in the course of their business or work is alerted to be on the lookout for suspicious currency and should they come into contact with it, report it to police. If you unknowingly accept counterfeit currency as legal tender, you cannot be reimbursed.

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects in relation to a break and enter into a church that occurred last week in Dartmouth.

On September 18, police received a report that a church located at 60 Hastings Drive in Dartmouth had been broken into sometime between the night of September 17 and the early morning hours of September 18. The suspect(s) damaged property and took electronics and a quantity of cash.

Police are releasing a video clip and a picture of two people who were in the area at the time of incident. Investigators are asking anyone who can identify the people or may have seen them in the area at the time to contact police.

In addition to the break-in on Hastings Drive, investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division are continuing to investigate five break and enters into churches in Dartmouth:

• Occurred overnight September 17 – 18: 255 Portland Street
• Occurred overnight September 17 – 18:  1 Regency Drive
• Occurred sometime between September 15 and 19: 27 Farrell Street
• Occurred during the overnight hours on September 19-20: 51 Athorpe Drive in Dartmouth
• Reported on September 20: 181 Portland Street

Investigators are continuing to determine if any property was stolen during these break-ins and are considering the possibility that all six incidents are related.

Police are asking anyone who notices any suspicious activity around residences, businesses or places of worship to report it by calling 902-490-5020.

September 23, 2020, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia . . . At 1:11 a.m. today, a man entered a convenience store on Victoria Rd. in Lunenburg, and demanded cigarettes from the clerk. He was wearing a garbage bag over his clothing, which was all dark coloured. He was wearing a ball cap and a hood over his head, and was wearing a mask. He was wearing round shaped wire-rimmed eyeglasses. He appeared to be white, and was carrying a knife in his hand. He used a garbage bag to take several cartons of cigarettes from the clerk and fled the store on foot.

Lunenburg District RCMP is requesting assistance from the public for information about this robbery. Can you help the RCMP solve a vandalism complaint?

September 22, 2020, St. Peter’s, Nova Scotia . . . On August 23, Richmond District RCMP responded to a report of vandalism to a local business on Grenville St. in St. Peter’s. When police arrived, they found window in the front door window had been smashed by a large rock.

Video surveillance obtained confirmed that on the night of August 22 at 10:35 p.m., someone approached the business on foot and threw a rock through the front door. The male then left the area on foot, heading towards the East Richmond School.

Richmond District RCMP is asking for assistance to locate the suspect, who is described as 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall, with an average build and wearing black pants and a black hoodie. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Richmond District RCMP at 902-535-2002. Police arrest two men in the homicide of Terrance Thomas Dixon

Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have arrested two men in relation to the homicide of Terrance Thomas Dixon.

At approximately 8 a.m. today investigators arrested a 42-year-old Dartmouth man in the 100 block of Main Street in Dartmouth and a 42-year-old Halifax man in the 100 block of Lacewood Drive in Halifax.

Investigators anticipate laying charges against the two men in relation to the homicide of Terrance Thomas Dixon, 47, of Halifax, that occurred earlier this summer.

On June 29, 2020 at approximately 10:20 p.m. Halifax Regional Police received a report of a stabbing that had just occurred at the Esso gas station at 6020 Young Street in Halifax. A man approached Terrance, who was in his parked vehicle, and stabbed him. The suspects fled in a vehicle which was later found abandoned in close proximity to the incident.

Terrance sustained serious injuries and was transported by EHS to the QEII Health Sciences Centre for further treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on July 4. The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled Terrance’s death a homicide.

Police are on scene of a shooting that occurred earlier tonight in Dartmouth

At 9:17 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to Churchill Court for a report that a man had been shot. Police located a 22-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound; he was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It is believed that the man was shot elsewhere and then driven to Churchill Court before police was called.

The investigation is in its early stages and Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.

On September 19, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint of an armed robbery at a convenience store on Main Road in Eastern Passage.

Upon attending the location, Police confirmed that a lone male suspect wearing a dark winter jacket, a black mask, a wine coloured baseball hat and carrying a black bag entered the store armed with a firearm and demanded cash and cigarettes from the employee. The suspect was described as being a white male, approximately five-foot-eight inches tall, of medium build and in his mid twenties. The suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. Nobody was injured as a result of this incident.

The investigation by the Halifax District RCMP and the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is continuing. Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged a second man in relation to the homicide of Anthony Charles Johnson.

At 11:30 p.m. on January 26, 2020, Halifax Regional Police responded to the area of Connaught and Chisholm avenues in Halifax to a report of a man who had been shot. Officers located Anthony Charles Johnson, 31, of Halifax, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remained until he passed away on February 6. Anthony’s death was deemed a homicide by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.

On September 17 officers arrested Justin Gregory Miller, 39, of Dartmouth, in the area Mic Mac Boulevard in Dartmouth without incident.  Yesterday, investigators charged Miller with first-degree murder in relation to Anthony’s homicide. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face the charge.

On April 22, investigators travelled to Toronto, Ontario, and with the assistance of members of Toronto Police Service, arrested Shondell James Ogden, 30, at the Toronto South Detention Center. Ogden was transported back to Halifax and appeared in court on April 23 to face a charge of first-degree murder in Anthony’s death.

We hope the charge that was laid brings some measure of comfort to Anthony’s family and loved ones. They continue to remain in our thoughts.
