Police continue to investigate the murder of Ann Marie Masson

Sunday marks the 35th anniversary of the murder of Ann Marie Masson and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On March 28, 1986, at approximately 1:55 a.m., police responded to a report of an injured person in a residence in the 2400 block of Robie Street in Halifax. Police found Ann inside the residence deceased as a result of being stabbed.

The investigation revealed that Ann left her residence on Lemon Walk in Halifax, at 3 p.m. to go to her friends’ house on Robie Street where she was later found deceased.

Investigators believe there are people who have information about Ann’s murder. We hope that the passage of time will encourage someone to come forward with what they know; it is never too late and what might seem like an insignificant detail may help progress the investigation.

Ann’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.

 

Police Investigate Weapons Call – Dartmouth

At 10:35 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of gun shots at Windmill Road / Parkstone Road in Dartmouth.
Responding officers located evidence that a shooting did take place.
Investigators from Patrol and the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are on scene.  The investigation is in the early stages.

Update
An adult man was located and taken to the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound in relation to the earlier weapons release.
His injury is not believed to be life threatening and there is no risk to members of the public.

Antigonish RCMP investigating graffiti incident

March 23, 2021, Heatherton, Nova Scotia… Antigonish County District RCMP is investigating after anti-Indigenous graffiti was discovered on Highway 104 near Heatherton.

Yesterday morning, RCMP received a complaint from a passing motorist alerting them to the graffiti. The offensive graffiti was removed from the roadway by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

Police investigate Robbery    

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred this morning in Halifax.

At 01:50 AM on March 23rd, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Needs Convenience, located at 6130 Chebucto Road, in Halifax. A man entered the store and produced a knife and demanded the money from the cash register. He was last seen walking South bound on Windsor Street. The employee was not injured.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’4” in height, approximately 40-50 years of age, with a dark brown beard. He was wearing a dark coloured toque, black jacket, grey sweatpants, and grey and white sneakers.

The investigation is in its early stages and Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.

Pictou County RCMP responded to a report of stolen truck on March 20th, 2021. 1/4 tank of gas. Vehicle details : Beige/tan 2008 Chev Silverado, 4 door. NS marker, DYB4VFF.  Distinguishing features; Westville Fire decal on back window, large light bar on the front bumper, chrome tool box in the bed of the truck, all 4 door bottoms are black in color due to body repair. Pictures of actual truck attached. Police investigating suspicious circumstances, Halifax

Halifax Regional Police are investigating two suspicious circumstances incidents that occurred early this morning in Halifax.

At 12:09 p.m. police responded to a report that a resident had observed a man on the fire escape outside their residence on Victoria Road. The man left the area in an unknown direction of travel.

At approximately 12:39 p.m. police responded a report that a resident on Lucknow Street had observed a man outside their window approximately 20 minutes earlier. The man ran from the area when the resident opened the curtains.

Officers checked the area in both incidents, but the man was not located.

The suspect in the first incident is described as a large man, approximately 6’, wearing a black hood and a white mask. The suspect in the second incident is described as a large man. Police are considering the possibility that it is the same suspect in both incidents.

Police Investigate Weapons call – Dartmouth

At 10:30 p.m. 18 March, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a male sprayed Bear Spray in the 0-100 Block of Albro Lake Road Dartmouth.  Two suspects armed with bear spray entered an apartment and assaulted an adult male inside.  The suspects fled in dark SUV in an unknown direction.  The victim, a 34 year old male, was checked by paramedics for non-life threatening injuries.  There is no suspect information at this time.

Assault, Dartmouth

Police investigating assault on bus driver 

Police are investigating an assault on a bus driver that occurred last night in Dartmouth. 

At approximately 11:55 p.m., officers responded to Kennedy Drive following a report that a Halifax Transit bus driver had been assaulted. A male passenger assaulted the bus driver and another passenger who had intervened to assist the driver. The suspect exited the bus, and then damaged the door when he attempted to re-board the bus. He then left the area and damaged a vehicle parked on the street as he walked away. 

The suspect is described as white, in his twenties, thin build, 5’10” to 6’, brown hair in a pony tail, short brown beard and wearing a green vest.

Suspicious Fire, Boylston

March 18, 2021, Boylston, Nova Scotia… Guysborough District RCMP is asking for the public’s help in solving a suspicious fire at a residence on Reddys Hill Rd.

Last night, at approximately 11:53 p.m., RCMP and Milford Haven Fire and Emergency Services were called to an address on Reddys Hill Road in Boylston, where a residence was on fire. The structure incurred extensive damage; however, there were no injuries, as the residence was unoccupied at the time. The fire is believed to be suspicious and the investigation is ongoing.

Traffic Blocked: South bound vehicle and pedestrian traffic is block on Connaught Avenue between Windsor Street and Chisholm Avenue.
At 10:38 p.m., police were notified an adult male with possible gun shot wounds arrived at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital with life threatening injuries.  The hospital is in lock down.
Investigators from Patrol and the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are on scene.  The investigation is in the early stages.
