RCMP investigates mischief to lobster traps

May 3, 2021, Petit-de-Grat, Nova Scotia…Richmond County District RCMP is investigating mischief to lobster traps that occurred in the waters off Petit-de-Grat.

Between 5:00 p.m. on April 29 and 8:00 a.m. on April 30, 2021, Richmond County District RCMP received a report of 40 lobster traps being cut off their buoys near Petit-de-Grat. The traps could not be recovered. The total loss of the traps and the catch contained within is approximately $10,000.00.

Investigators have identified a person of interest, and the investigation is ongoing.

Suspicious Fire

RCMP investigates suspicious fire in Yarmouth

May 3, 2021, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia…Yarmouth Municipal RCMP is investigating a suspicious fire at an abandoned structure on Argyle Street in Yarmouth.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on April 27, 2021, Yarmouth Municipal RCMP and the Yarmouth Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 38 Argyle Street. The building, which had also experienced a fire the month before, incurred significant damage and was torn down. No one was injured as a result.

The fire is believed to be suspicious in nature and the investigation is ongoing.

Police request public’s assistance locating lost RCMP badge

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a lost RCMP badge.

Yesterday, an RCMP officer reported to HRP that their police badge and wallet holder had been lost. The items were lost in Halifax Regional Police jurisdiction, and at this time, no specific location has been identified. The items were last seen in the fall of 2020.

Police seek public’s assistance locating man with warrant for criminal harassment

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man with an arrest warrant for criminal harassment that spans a 12-year period.

Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division have obtained an arrest warrant for Neil Alfred Brown, 70, in relation to two counts of criminal harassment, section 264(2)(b) repeatedly communicating with, either directly or indirectly, the other person or anyone known to them. The incidents occurred between 2009 and 2021 and involve two separate victims.

Brown is described as a white man with brownish-grey hair and blue eyes.

Investigators have not been able to locate Brown and are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call police at 902-490-5016. Help the RCMP solve break, enter and theft

April 28, 2021, Head of Jeddore, Nova Scotia…Halifax District RCMP is investigating a break, enter and theft from a convenience store in Head of Jeddore.

At 2 a.m. on April 26, police were called to an alarm at a store on Hwy. 7. When police arrived, they saw that the lock on the front door was damaged. Video surveillance showed a man entering the store and leaving with a quantity of cigarettes. He drove away in a silver Dodge Caliber.

The suspect is described as thin, with short dark hair. He was wearing a green and beige jacket, a black mask and was carrying a red bag.

RCMP investigates break, enter and theft

April 27, 2021, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia…Halifax District RCMP is investigating a recent break, enter and theft that occurred in Lower Sackville.

At 6:30 a.m. yesterday, police were notified of a break and enter at a convenience store on Sackville Dr. When they arrived, it was determined someone had entered the store through a broken window. A number of items were stolen, including cigarettes, cigars and cash. The incident occurred between midnight and 6 a.m. Officers located the stolen items nearby which lead to a recently reported stolen 2009 green Jaguar parked on Margaret Dr.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police continue to investigate murder of Lori Katherine Jollimore

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the murder of Lori Katherine Jollimore and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

At approximately 1:09 p.m. on April 27, 2017, police responded to a sudden death call at a home on Farquharson Street in Dartmouth. When officers arrived, they located Lori deceased inside the residence. The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled her death a homicide.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Lori’s murder and we hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.

Homicide, North Preston

RCMP marks five-year anniversary of Daverico Downey homicide

April 23, 2021, North Preston, Nova Scotia… Today is the fifth anniversary of the murder of 20-year-old Daverico Downey of North Preston, and the RCMP are asking members of the public who may have information to come forward.

On April 23, 2016, at around 2 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired on Downey Rd. When officers arrived, they found Daverico Downey laying deceased on a pathway. He had been shot, and his death was ruled a homicide. Police received information indicating two vehicles had been seen fleeing North Preston shortly after the gunshots were heard. The first vehicle of interest is a white car that was seen leaving from the Alex Ln. area. The second vehicle of interest is a dark-coloured sport utility vehicle.

The RCMP continues to ask the public for assistance in solving this crime. Even though the homicide has been added to the Nova Scotia Reward for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, it remains unsolved. The Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program offers up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in certain cases. Motor Vehicle Collision, Halifax

Motor vehicle collision
At 10:55 PM police responded to the 100 block of Hebridean Dr in Halifax,  after a witness located a crash involving an ATV.
The driver, an adult male, was located with the ATV and was transported to the hospital by EHS for treatment of injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and alcohol is believed to be a factor.

RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime investigating injured child

April 21, 2021, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia…On April 16, 2021, Lunenburg District RCMP received a report from a local hospital regarding a child in medical distress. Police began an investigation and determined that the child, a two-year-old girl, had sustained life-threatening injuries and was being airlifted from a hospital in Bridgewater to the IWK hospital in Halifax. The child required emergency treatment for her injuries at the IWK ICU.

The RCMP’s Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit has assumed the lead in the investigation and are being assisted by the Lunenburg District and Halifax District RCMP. The investigation is ongoing.
