Missing person found deceased, homicide investigation ongoing

September 30, 2020, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia… The 26-year-old man who was reported missing on September 27 has been located deceased. The remains were located on September 29 near the intersection of Saunders Rd. and Raynardton Rd. in Yarmouth County.

The death of Colton James Cook is considered by police to be suspicious and it is being investigated as a homicide. The RCMP’s Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit is conducting the investigation with the assistance of Yarmouth Town and Rural Detachments.

Lobsters Stolen from Port Medway

Theft of 1200 pounds of lobster in Queens County

January 4, 2019, Port Medway, Nova Scotia . . . Queens District RCMP is requesting public assistance in two recent thefts where a total of 1200 pounds of lobster was stolen. The thefts occurred in the early morning of December 23 and January 1 from the lobster pounds on Long Cove Rd.

In the theft that occurred on December 23, the suspect may have used a small boat that was pulled up on shore near the pound.

On September 12th, 2018  A Honda ATV Bright Orange in color stolen from outside residence on 3 Highway in Arcadia (Yarmouth County).

Robbery in Yarmouth County

September 14, 2018, Plymouth, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia . . . At 8 a.m. on September 13, a 77-year-old man was going into a barn on his property when he was grabbed from behind and dragged to his vehicle by two unknown men. The men forced the victim to hand over an undisclosed amount of money. The men, who wore black clothing including face masks, then forced the victim to drive them to a nearby gravel pit where they took his cell phone, then threw his keys away. The suspects walked away from the pit on foot. The victim sustained a minor injury to his face during the altercation.

The victim found his keys and drove back home. The RCMP was contacted via 911, and Yarmouth Rural and Town detachments responded, using a police dog to attempt to locate the suspects. RCMP Forensic Identification Services is assisting with the investigation, as well as the Yarmouth/ Clare Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU). RCMP have canvassed the area and continue to look for the suspects, who remain at large.

The suspects are described as two men wearing black clothing and black face masks. They had a black backpack, and one of the men had a neck tattoo.
