Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax.

At approximately 3:26 p.m., officers responded to the report of a robbery that occurred in the 5000 block of Spring Garden Road.  A male entered the business, showed staff a firearm and demanded money.  The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’5″ tall, wearing a light blue jacket, black hoodie, black scarf covering face, sunglasses, dark pants, grey gloves and grey backpack.  Male left the business on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax last night.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred in the area of Yukon Street. A man with a knife approached a woman, threatened her and demanded money. The suspect fled the area on foot empty-handed. The woman was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as a Black man in his 20s with a thin build and wearing a dark toque with a logo on the front, a blue vest, and jeans.

February 6, 2023, Liverpool, Nova Scotia… Queens District RCMP continues to investigate mischief at the Liverpool tourist bureau.

On January 9, Queens District RCMP responded to a report of vandalism at the tourist bureau in Liverpool. RCMP officers learned someone, between the evening of January 8 and early morning hours of January 9, had vandalized the building with various forms of graffiti.

A photo of a person believed to be involved in the incident was released to the public in the hopes of identifying them.

Investigators have since learned that, later that morning, on January 9 a dark-coloured sedan bearing Ontario license plates parked at the tourist bureau. The driver exited the vehicle and met with another man who approached on foot. A discussion ensued, and the duo expressed the same hateful language that had been spray painted on the tourist bureau.

The driver of the vehicle is described as being in his early 20s with dark hair.

The man who was on foot had a beard.

As the investigation continues, investigators are conscious that this act of mischief is consistent with being motivated by bias, prejudice or hate against an identifiable group.

February 3, 2023, Hillaton, Nova Scotia…Tomorrow will mark 10 years since Mark Clarke disappeared in Kings County.

On February 4, 2013, Mark Clarke, who is from Hillaton, was reported missing to the Kings District RCMP. Clarke was last seen at about 12 p.m. that day on the corner of Aberdeen St. and Main St. in Kentville. Clarke was described as white, 5-foot-10, 160lbs, brown hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a canvas winter coat, brown hiking boots, jeans and gloves. Clarke also had a full goatee and long sideburns.

Over the years there have been many sightings of Clarke that proved to be unfounded. Investigators have obtained numerous statements, conducted ground and aerial searches, and followed up on tips as they have been received.

The investigation is still open and investigators are hopeful that someone has information that could help move the investigation forward. Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax yesterday.

At approximately 3 p.m. on January 31, officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred at Boyd’s Pharmasave at 2525 Agricola Street. A man entered the store, threatened staff and demanded money. The suspect fled the area on foot empty-handed.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’10” tall, 190 lbs. and wearing a black Under Armour jacket with the hood up, black gloves, black pants, dark boots and a cloth mask.

At 2:24 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a robbery in progress at the Superstore 1075 Barrington Street Halifax.  The caller reported being robbed by a man with a firearm.  No one was injured.  The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.  Patrol officers searched the area, but have not located the suspect.  The suspect is described as:

Suspect – White Male, 6’1”, medium build.  Wearing: black mask, black hat, black hooded jacket and black pants.

Tomorrow is the 35th anniversary of the murder of Derek Alan Lowe and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continue to investigate the case.

On January 28, 1988, at 7:20 a.m., police responded to a report that a citizen walking on a pathway at Maybank Sport Field in Dartmouth had found an unresponsive man. Officers located a deceased man with a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Derek Alan Lowe. The investigation provided that Derek was last seen the evening of January 27, 1988, at a bar in the north end of Dartmouth.

Investigators believe there are people with information in relation to Derek’s murder who have not come forward to police. We hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. It is never too late to do the right thing and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.

January 26, 2023, North Preston, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is seeking information in relation to a report of shots fired in North Preston.

Yesterday, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a call involving shots fired outside a home located on Amos Walter Dr. in North Preston.

RCMP officers learned that a number of gun shots were heard and that no injuries were sustained in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking for the public’s assistance identifying a potential witness in relation to the 2022 death of Ryan Michael Sawyer.

At approximately 1:15 a.m. on December 24, 2022, police responded to a report of a disturbance involving several people in the 1700 block of Brunswick Street in Halifax. Officers located Ryan Sawyer unresponsive on the sidewalk, just east of Brunswick Street on Prince Street. He was transported to hospital where he later died. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and ruled the manner of death to be a homicide.

Investigators are interested in speaking to a man who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have information that could assist the investigation. The man is described as Black, in his 20s to 30s, tall with a thin build. At the time, he was wearing a black coat and a black shirt with a gold symbol.

This potential witness is not a suspect in the death and investigators are not seeking additional suspects at this time.

Police are investigating 2 robberies that occurred in Halifax earlier tonight.

On January 24^th  at approximately 5:30 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a call for a robbery that just occurred at the Sobeys located at 2651 Windsor St in Halifax.

A man entered the Smoke shop, threatened that he had a weapon and demanded money and cigarettes.  The man then fled the store on foot after collecting the money.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’ 2” tall, medium build wearing a black mask.  The suspect was wearing a grey hoodie, with the hood up and carrying a black back pack and black handbag.

On January 24^th at approximately 7:45 p.m.  Halifax Regional Police responded to a call for a robbery that just occurred at the Chebucto Grocery located at 6330 Chebucto Rd. in Halifax.

A man entered the store and demanded money, cigarettes and lottery tickets and threatened that he had a weapon.   The man then fled the store on foot after collecting the money and lottery tickets.

The suspect, a white male was wearing a white face mask, black jacket, black pants, dark sneakers and black toque.  The suspect was carrying a green re-usable bag.
