Pictou County District RCMP investigating armed robbery

June 26, 2023, Plymouth, Pictou County, Nova Scotia…Pictou County District RCMP is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a gas station on Bridge Ave. in Plymouth.

On June 25, 2023, at approximately 9 p.m., Pictou County District RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a gas station on Bridge Ave. in Plymouth. RCMP officers learned that a man had entered the gas station, told an employee to give him the till and briefly displayed, what the employee believed was, a weapon in his waist band. The man took cash from the till and fled the scene on foot heading towards Foord St. in Stellarton. The employee was not physically injured during the incident.

The man is described as 6-foot, with light brown hair and having a scruffy beard. He is believed to be between 30 and 40 years old. The man was wearing a grey hoodie, white t-shirt, blue jeans, dark shoes with white soles and black sunglasses.

Police investigate robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred this morning in Halifax.

At approximately 6:38 a.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Petro Canada gas station located at 7015 Bayers Road in Halifax.  A man approached the store, broke the locked glass door with a blunt object, entered the store and threatened staff while demanding money and cigarettes.  He fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. The clerk was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as a white man in his thirties with a tattoo on his right upper cheek, approximately 5’9″ tall, with a thin build, wearing blue overalls with reflective stripes and a gray Carhartt sweatshirt. He was last seen fleeing on foot carrying a green reusable bag.

Police investigate robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax yesterday.

At approximately 7:15 a.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery that occurred at a residence on Federal Avenue. A man broke into a home while the residents were inside and threatened them. The man then pushed one of the residents, took some property and fled on foot. The residents were not physically injured.

The suspect is described as white, approximately 5’11” tall, with a medium build, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with a black hood, jeans and carrying a black reusable grocery bag.

Halifax District RCMP seeking information in robbery investigation

June 20, 2023, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is seeking information in relation to a robbery that occurred in Lower Sackville.

This morning, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store located on Beaver Bank Rd. in Lower Sackville. RCMP officers learned that a man entered the convenience store and demanded money before fleeing the scene on foot, with cash, towards Glendale Ave. The store employee was not physically injured.

The 25-35-year-old man is described as white, 5-foot-6 and of medium build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a bandanna, a stripped blue and white tuque, a red hoodie with a black jacket on top and light grey pajama pants.

The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP seek public’s help in identifying robbery suspect

June 20, 2023, Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia… RCMP in East and West Hants are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a robbery suspect.

On June 18, at approximately 4:15 a.m., a man entered the Circle K in Mount Uniacke and attempted to rob the store. Officers responded to the alarm, but the suspect had fled the area.

A short time later, the same man entered the Irving in Windsor’s Garlands Crossing and stole a quantity of money. He left the scene on an all-terrain vehicle.

The suspect is described as 5-foot-11. He was wearing a black Reebok hoodie, jeans, and tan work boots.

He presented like he had a weapon under his sweater, but nothing was produced.

Police investigate robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth last week.

On June 16 at approximately 6:40 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault that had just occurred on Primrose Street in Dartmouth. Two men approached another man who was not known to them. One of the men assaulted the victim and took his property. Both suspects then fled the area on foot. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect who assaulted the victim is described as a Black man in his 30s, approximately 5’8” tall, bald, with a medium build and a tattoo on his face and wearing black pants and a red sweater.

The second suspect is described as a white man, approximately 35 years old and 6′ tall.

High-Risk Offender Notification, Scotsburn, Pictou County, N.S.

June 16, 2023, Scotsburn, Nova Scotia… In accordance with the Nova Scotia Release of a High-Risk Offender Protocol, the Nova Scotia RCMP is advising Nova Scotians, particularly those living in Pictou County, of the relocation of a high-risk sex offender from Ontario.

In 2020, Michael Russell, 43, was convicted of Sexual Interference and sentenced to serve nearly 3.5 years in a federal institution. After serving his full term, he is being released today, June 16, 2023. Russell plans to reside in the Scotsburn area of Pictou County. He’s described as 5-foot-11, 225 pounds; he has blue eyes and brown hair.

Russell is bound by a Prohibition Order that prevents him from attending daycares, school grounds, playgrounds, community centres, public parks and public swimming areas. He is also not permitted to contact or communicate with anyone under the age of 16 years, unless he does so under the supervision of an appropriate person.

In an effort to increase public safety further, Pictou County District RCMP has made an application for a Peace Bond under sections 810.1 and 810.2 of the Criminal Code. Should these applications be granted, Russell would be placed on additional conditions so that he can be appropriately monitored in the community by our officers.

This information is provided to alert members of the public of Russell’s presence in our community. The RCMP is warning that any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct against Russell will not be tolerated.

Police investigate assault

Police are investigating an assault that occurred in Dartmouth last night.

At approximately 9:10 p.m. police responded to reports of an assault that had occurred at the Sobeys at 210 Wyse Road. A man approached two men who were not known to them and assaulted them. The suspect then fled to a waiting vehicle that was occupied by another man and woman and left the area.

One of the victims was treated at the scene and the second was taken to hospital for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was described as a man in his 20s to 30s, approximately 6’ tall, 200lbs., wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans with a belt, and a dark-coloured sweatshirt. The vehicle that the suspect fled the area in is described as a grey/silver Honda Accord with a black spoiler.

Meteghan RCMP investigating break-in and theft of firearms

June 15, 2023, Saint Bernard, Nova Scotia…Meteghan RCMP is investigating a break-in that resulted in the theft of firearms from a home in Saint Bernard.

On June 14, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Meteghan RCMP responded to a report of a break-in at a home on Hwy. 1 in Saint Bernard. RCMP officers learned that the home had been broken into sometime between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and that three handguns, 4 rifles and a shotgun were stolen.

RCMP investigating theft of truck and firearm in Walton

June 15, 2023, Walton, Nova Scotia…East Hants District RCMP is investigating the theft of a truck and a firearm from a property on Hwy. 215 in Walton.

On June 13, 2022, at approximately 3:20 a.m., East Hants District RCMP responded to a report of a theft of a black Ford F150 from a property on Hwy. 215 in Walton. RCMP officers learned that truck had been unlocked and the key was inside of it. A few hours later, the truck was located on the Tenecape Wharf Rd. in Tenecape. The truck was seized and towed to the Enfield Detachment so that a forensic examination of the vehicle could be completed by RCMP Forensic Identification Services.

During the investigation, RCMP officers learned that a shotgun had been stored under the backseat of the truck at the time it was stolen, and the shotgun was now missing. The shotgun is described as a Charles Daly 12-gauge pump action shotgun.
