Halifax Regional Police are investigating a Break and Enter that occurred last evening in Halifax.

At 9:09 p.m. on October 7^th, 2020, officers responded to Break and Enter at Brothers Meats located at 2665 Agricola Street, Halifax. Witnesses observed a female approach Brothers Meats and throw a rock through the front window of the store and reach threw the broken glass and remove the cash register from the counter. Once the cash register was removed from the store the female throws the cash register to the ground and smashes it open. There were no bills inside the cash register only coins – several coins were left on the ground at the scene.

The female subject fled on foot north on Agricola Street with an undisclosed amount of the stolen coins.

The female suspect was described as a white female, age unknown, 5’6”, athletic build, long dark hair. She was wearing a black face covering, dark gloves, black jacket, black pants, and white sneakers.

Multiple police units attended the scene and actively looked for the suspect. A K-9 officer attended the scene with the police service dog, but there was too much pedestrian traffic in the area to deploy the service dog and locate a track of the suspect.

The investigation will be assigned to the Integrated General Investigative Section.

October 6, 2020, Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia . . . Sunday night at 10:15 p.m., a man entered a gas station/convenience store on Hwy. 1 in Mount Uniacke, and demanded cigarettes and money from the clerk. Once another customer drove into the area, the man became nervous and fled the store into a car parked nearby.

The man is described as white, between 25 to 30-years-old, 5-foot-8, 140 to 150 pounds, with short hair and wearing a black non-medical mask, grey baggy sweat pants and a black pull-over hoodie. The car is described as silver or grey, rounded body style, with four-doors was driven by another person and no description available.

Help RCMP solve suspicious fire

October 5, 2020, Comeauville, Nova Scotia…Meteghan RCMP is asking for the public’s help to solve a suspicious fire to a boat in Comeauville.

Today at approximately 5:56 a.m., emergency services were contacted by a Comeauville Wharf employee stating a boat at Comeauville Wharf in Comeauville was on fire. The boat is described as 36-feet in length and was moored at the location awaiting repair when the fire occurred. The fire caused extensive damage to the boat.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and is still under investigation. There were no injuries.

Police Investigate Break and Enters into Two Bedford Businesses

On October 3rd at approximately 11:50 a.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to reports of two break and enter complaints that occurred in businesses located side by side in Bedford.

The food industry businesses, Grill Way and Catering and Booza Emessa located at 817 and 819 Bedford Highway, Bedford were broken into by an unknown suspect(s) sometime overnight. A staff members discovered the incidents on Saturday morning.  A significant amount of food product and other items were taken during the incidents. Members of the Integrated General Investigation Section are investigating. Investigators will attempt to determine if these incidents are related to any recent similar incidents.

Police Investigate Weapons Complaint

At 4:45 p.m. on October 2nd, 2020 Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint in the  0-100 block of Lacewood Drive in Halifax.

The complainant was driving on Lacewood Drive when the driver of another vehicle cut him off. The driver of the other vehicle then exited his vehicle and challenged the complainant to fight on the roadway. The complainant drove away immediately but became stuck in traffic near the suspect vehicle again. At that time the complainant advised Police that the suspect driver began yelling obscenities toward him and held what the complainant believed was a handgun in his hand.

The suspect driver was described as a 20-30 year-old Caucasian male with a full dark beard, he was wearing a gray sweater at the time of the incident. The suspect was driving an older model gold coloured Hyundai sedan with a rear spoiler. The suspect vehicle was last seen driving toward the Bayer’s Lake park area.  No one was injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP warning public about threatening solicitation scams 

October 2, 2020, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia…The Nova Scotia RCMP is warning the public about a number of threatening phone and computer scams being reported throughout the province.

There are many types of scams on the rise in the province and the most recent one involves callers falsely representing an organization, such as police or government agency. The caller will then threaten to arrest the individual or suspend their travel visa or tax account if immediate payment is not made. Police want to remind the public that legitimate organizations do not conduct business this way.

“If someone portrays themselves as representing a government institution or another organization, and are threatening you with arrest unless you send immediate payment, regardless of reason, it’s a scam,” says Cpl. Laurie Haines of the Nova Scotia RCMP Commercial Crime Section. “These scams are very convincing because the caller ID or spoofed email address appear associated to the police or government institution in question” he further adds.

Recipients of these calls are asked to hang up and not continue with the calls. Anyone who suspects they have been targeted in a phone or computer scam is encouraged to contact their local police, and also the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or online at https://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/index-eng.htm.

Police investigate multiple commercial break and enters 

Police are investigating multiple commercial break and enters that have occurred this week in the Halifax-area. 

Since September 28, police have received eleven reports of break and enters into businesses in Dartmouth and Lower Sackville. Members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the cases. Investigators are continuing to determine if any property was stolen during these break-ins and are considering the possibility that all or some of the incidents are related. 

Two suspects in relation to some of the cases are described as white men, both tall, one with a thin build and the other with a medium build. It is believed that they were driving an older model silver Honda Civic.

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Bedford early this morning.

At approximately 4 a.m. police responded to a robbery at the Irving gas station at 389 Bedford Highway. Two men entered the store and demanded cash and cigarettes. The suspects took a quantity of cash and cigarettes and fled on foot southbound on the Bedford Highway. No weapon was seen. The employee did not report any physical injuries.

The first suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’8″-5’10”, slim build, in his late 20s to early 30s, with a faded tattoo on the left side of his neck. He was wearing a black hat, jeans, a face mask and a black sweater.

The second suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’8″-5’10” in his late 20s to early 30s. He was wearing a face mask, a gray Under Armor hoodie and a two-toned blue ball cap.
