July 20, 2018, Westphal, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is now looking to speak with two persons of interest after the shortchanging scam surfaced at a business on Highway 7 in Westphal on Wednesday.

At 5 p.m., a man and woman entered the business, made a purchase and engaged the clerk in conversation while asking to change two large bills for smaller bills. During the process, the male attempted to confuse and distract the victim when exchanging the currency. Following this, it was determined that $490.00 was missing.

The male was described as wearing a Blue Jays ball cap and the woman was wearing a black ball cap. Both were described as having speaking with an accent. The same shortchange was also attempted at another business in Cole Harbour, however, no currency was lost.

Employees who handle cash are reminded to be mindful and vigilant of this scam, particularly when individuals use larger bills or ask for change. At approx. 8:44 p.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Green Tree Clinic Dispensary located at 1274 Bedford Highway, Bedford. Staff reported that 3 men entered the business, approached a staff member, one suspect produced a firearm and demanded staff put product and money into duffel bags. The suspects fled the business on foot with an undisclosed amount of product and money. Then fled in a vehicle.

Suspects described as three black males, dressed in black, black hoodies with their faces partially covered.

Stabbing investigated by police

July 13, 2018, Porters Lake, Nova Scotia … Prior to 3:30 a.m. this morning, Halifax District RCMP received a report of a 26-year-old man from Porters Lake having arrived at the Dartmouth General Hospital with a stab wound.

Police confirmed that the victim drove himself to hospital after being stabbed during an altercation at a residence on Meadowview Dr. in Porters Lake. The injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. The victim was home alone when two masked men entered the home and assaulted the victim.

The investigation is in its early stages with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division leading the investigation with assistance from the Major Crime Unit, RCMP Forensics Identification Section, Halifax District RCMP and Halifax Regional Police K-9.

Police investigate armed robbery

July 16, 2018, Porters Lake, Nova Scotia … At 6:46 a.m. this morning, Halifax District RCMP responded to an armed robbery at a residence located in the same building as a business on Highway 7 in Porters Lake.

Two male suspects entered the business carrying firearms and assaulted the victims, before leaving. As a result, both victims were transported to the Twin Oaks Hospital in Musquodoboit Harbour with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is in its early stages with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division leading the investigation with assistance from the RCMP Forensics Identification Section, Halifax District RCMP and Halifax Regional Police K-9.

Suspects won`t likely be mowing lawns

July 13, 2018, Upper Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP would like to hear from you if someone tries to sell you a ride on lawn mower and a whipper snipper for a reduce cost.

Sometime between late Tuesday afternoon July 10 and early Wednesday July 11  suspects entered a property on Anderson Rd. in Upper Hammonds Plains and stole lawn care equipment. The ride on lawn mower is a yellow Craftsman model and the gas powered whipper snipper is an orange STIHL.

Human remains found in Kings County

July 11, 2018, Sheffield Mills, Kings County, Nova Scotia . . . At 6:37 a.m. today, Kings District RCMP responded to a call indicating the remains of a deceased female had been found outside, near a home on Saxon St. in Sheffield Mills.

The RCMP responded immediately to the scene and are being assisted by members of the RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit.   The investigation is ongoing.

Was your vehicle broken into on July 11-12?

 

Police are asking residents of South-end Halifax who had property stolen from their vehicles in the overnight hours of July 11-12 to contact them.

 

At approximately 12:20 a.m., on July 12 police responded to the area of Bridges Street and Harrington Drive to reports of two people breaking into vehicles.  A description of the two men was provided to responding officers and at 12:30 a.m. officers located two people in the area of 600 Franklyn Street matching the description. A 21-year-old man from Dartmouth and a 16-year-old male youth from Halifax were arrested and taken into custody without incident.

 

The man and the youth were searched and officers located what is believed to be a large amount of stolen property. Investigators would like to return the property to the rightful owners. If you live in the South-end Halifax area and had property stolen from your vehicle(s) in the overnight hours of July 11-12 please contact police at 902-490-5016. ATV stolen from locked container     

July 12, 2018, Boutiliers Point, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is investigating a theft of an ATV from a locked container at a residence on Boutiliers Point Rd. in Boutiliers Point.

The home owner left home around 8 a.m. on Wednesday and returned around 1:30 p.m. to discover suspects cut the lock on the container and stole the ATV. The ATV is described as being a khaki green 2017 Suzuki LT-F400FL7 with King Quad bumpers, Bronco Classic seat and a 2500 lbs winch.

Colchester District RCMP investigate robbery

 

July 16, 2018, Truro Heights, Nova Scotia … Just before 8 a.m. on Sunday morning, Colchester District RCMP responded to a robbery at a business on the Truro Heights Connector Rd. in Truro Heights. The suspect parked at the gas pumps, filled the vehicle with gas, before entering the business. At this time, the suspect held a hand in one pocket and demanded money. The suspect left with a small quantity of cash and failed to pay for the fuel.

The suspect is described as being a male, wearing a dark coloured hoodie, camouflage shorts and black footwear. He left in an older model Pontiac Montana van, described as being gold with loud exhaust. The van was last seen heading towards Truro on the Truro Heights Connector.

Police investigating sexual assault

Officers are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man after an incident yesterday at a public pool in Bedford.

At 9:05 p.m., officers responded to the Bedford Outdoor Pool, located at 277 Shore Drive, to a report that a man had inappropriately touched a number of women while they were in the children’s pool.

The man is described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, 5’10”, 200 lbs with blue eyes, brown shaggy hair and a full brown beard approximately 1” long. He was wearing a chain with a cross pendant, black exercise shorts and a white t-shirt.

A number of pool patrons reported the incident to employees but left the pool before officers arrived. Officers have spoken with two of the patrons and are asking the others to contact police.
