On September 15th, 2023 a resident arrived home to his apartment located in the town of Pictou, to discover it was broken into while he was away for an extended amount of time (18 Days). The majority of his personal belongings, furniture (brown leather couch and loveseat) and random household items were stolen. Help Solve Theft from Windsor

On September 11th, 2023 complaint received for theft of tools, generator, drills, brass, and other construction tools at the West Hants Public Works yard. Adjacent surveillance cameras captured a lone male in a older-model blue pick-up truck.

Police continue to investigate the murder of Margaret Hartrick


This Sunday marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of Margaret Elizabeth Hartrick and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

At approximately 8:25 a.m. on September 10, 1998, police responded to a report of an unconscious woman in a wooded area behind Harbourview School at 25 Alfred Street in Dartmouth. Upon arrival, officers found Margaret lying unconscious in the wooded area. She had suffered trauma to her head and was transported to the QEII hospital where she died on September 18, 1998. She was 35 years old at the time of her death.

The investigation revealed that Margaret had been assaulted in the wooded area. Residents from the surrounding neighborhood reported hearing arguing earlier the same morning and other residents reported hearing a car speeding from the area, both of which may be related to Margaret’s death.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could advance the investigation into Margaret’s murder. Police continue to urge these people to come forward and share anything they know, no matter how small the detail.

It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation. Anyone with information about Margaret’s murder is asked to call police at 902-490-5020.

Margaret’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. September 8, 2023, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s assistance in relation to two robberies that occurred in Lower Sackville.

On August 27, shortly before 1 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store on Beaver Bank Rd., near Glendale Dr., in Lower Sackville. RCMP officers learned that a man entered the store, armed with a metal rod, threatened the employee and demanded money. The man then fled the scene on foot with cash.

On September 6, at approximately 3:35 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at the same convenience store on Beaver Bank Rd. RCMP officers learned that a man entered the business, presented a stick and demanded the contents of the till. The man then fled on foot, with cash, heading towards Glendale Dr.

During both incidents, the store employee was not physically injured.

At this time, investigators believe that the same man is responsible for both robberies. He’s described as white, approximately 5-foot-7 and slim build.

Police investigate robbery

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax on the weekend.

On September 3 at approximately 10:50 p.m. officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred at a hotel in the 1900 block of Brunswick Street. The victim reported that earlier that night he had met a woman outside a restaurant in the 5200 block of Prince Street in Halifax. The woman later visited the man in his hotel room and stole his wallet. The victim attempted to follow the woman as she ran from the room, but two men with what were believed to be firearms threatened the victim. The two men then left the hotel with the woman.

The woman is described as white, in her 20s, thin build and long black hair. She was wearing a black dress and black boots.

One of the men is described as white, in his 30s, approximately 6’ tall, athletic build and short dark hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.

The other man is described as white, in his 20s to 30s, approximately 6’ tall, athletic build, short dark hair and dark facial hair. He was wearing a black jacket, a black baseball hat and jeans.

Jetta Stolen in Wallace, N.S.

On August 23, 2023, RCMP Cumberland received a complaint of a stolen vehicle. Sometime between August 22 and 24, a 2015 Grey Volkswagen Jetta with NS Plate GDA 773 was stolen from behind a business located on Highway 6 in Wallace, NS. Photograph of the vehicle is attached and the front right fender has damage. Police investigate hate-motivated incident

Halifax Regional Police is investigating what is believed to be an incident motivated by hate in Halifax.

Yesterday at approximately 12:20 p.m. police received a report of rope that had been placed in a tree in Africville Park in Halifax. The rope had been removed prior to officers’ arrival. After observing photos of the rope before it was removed, and given its location, officers are investigating the incident as if the rope was intended to be a noose.

Investigators, along with members of the Hate Crime Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, are asking anyone with information about this incident or video from the area, who has not already spoken with police, to call 902-490-5020. Police investigate robbery

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred this morning in Dartmouth.

At approximately 4:55 a.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Needs Convenience store located at 303 Prince Albert Road. A man entered the store, produced what is believed to be a firearm and threatened a staff member before fleeing with a quantity of cash. The staff member was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as a white man, late teens to early 20s, approximately 5’6″ tall with long brown hair and brown sideburns. He was wearing a black baseball cap with white lettering, black hooded sweater with purple lettering on the front and arms, teal baseball shirt with yellow tie dye, black acid washed ripped jeans, white Nike shoes with black laces and red Nike emblem and carrying a black duffle bag with graphics. He was last seen fleeing the area on foot.

Police investigate damage to vehicles

Halifax Regional Police is investigating damage done to multiple vehicles in Halifax overnight.

At approximately 7:50 a.m. police received reports of vehicles that had been damaged in the area of Waegwoltic and Conrose avenues. It is believed that early this morning suspect(s) slashed the driver side tires of vehicles parked on the streets.

Police ask that if your vehicle was damaged and you have not yet spoken with investigators to report it at 902-490-5020. Digby RCMP investigating assault on wharf

August 30, 2023, Weymouth North, Nova Scotia…Digby RCMP is investigating an assault that occurred on a wharf in Weymouth North.

On August 2, 2023, Digby RCMP responded to a report of an assault and a theft at a wharf in Weymouth North. RCMP officers learned that four people had stolen a lobster crate, filled with lobster, from a boat at the Weymouth North wharf. When the four people were confronted by the property owner, they dumped the lobster back into the water and threw the empty crate at the owner, striking them on the arm. The four people then fled the area in a boat.

Over the last three weeks, RCMP officers have been continuing with their investigation but have been unable to identify the individuals involved. Digby RCMP is now releasing photographs of the individuals, hoping that someone recognizes them.
