Halifax Regional Police is investigating a suspicious fire that occurred in Dartmouth this yesterday.
Yesterday at approximately 3:30 a.m. police assisted Halifax Fire and Emergency Services with a fire at a residence on Lahey Road. Investigators believe the fire had been started at the exterior of the residence. There were no reported injuries.

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a shooting that occurred in Dartmouth early this morning.
At approximately 4:15 a.m. officers responded to reports of shot fired in the area of Robert Drive in Dartmouth. Officers located evidence of a shooting and found a residence that had been struck. There were no reported injuries.
It is believed the suspect(s) left the area in a vehicle.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the murder of Helen Diane Knickle and homicide investigators in the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continue to investigate the case.
On July 26, 1974, at approximately 3 a.m., police responded to a report of an unresponsive woman on the Halifax North Commons. Officers located 22-year-old Helen Knickle who was deceased. The Medical Examiner ruled Helen’s death a homicide. The investigation revealed that Helen had left her residence on Cook Street in Halifax to go for a walk between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.
Investigators believe that there are people who have not yet come forward who have information that could help solve Helen’s murder. They hope that the passage of time may encourage someone to do the right thing and share what they know with police.
It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation into Helen’s murder. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 902-490-5016.
This case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.
July 26, 2024, River Hebert, Nova Scotia and LaHave, Nova Scotia … RCMP are investigating recent thefts of money from two volunteer-run museums and attempting to identify two people of interest.
On July 19, Cumberland County District RCMP received a report of a theft from the Heritage Models Museum in River Hebert. Surveillance video shows two people working together to take a cash box from the museum.
On July 24, Lunenburg County District RCMP received a similar report of two people entering the Fort Point Museum in LaHave and again working together to facilitate the theft of a large donation container.
Based on descriptors and surveillance footage from both museums, police believe the same two people are related to both thefts and are seeking to identify them. Images show a man with what appears to be short reddish-brown hair and beard, and a woman with long brown hair. Both appear to be in their 20s. Officers believe they drove to one of the museums in a dark-coloured pickup truck with a cargo rack on the back.
Staff or volunteers at museums or similar sites who observe suspicious behaviour should contact their nearest RCMP detachment or local police or, in an emergency, call 911.
The RCMP is encouraging organizations that collect donations to empty their donation bins regularly. If possible, people who want to support museums or charities can also consider donating through online channels rather than in cash.

July 23, 2024, Egerton and Sutherlands River, Nova Scotia… Pictou County District RCMP is investigating two suspicious fires that occurred on July 20.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., Pictou County District RCMP learned of a vehicle on fire in a parking lot near Exit 27 on Hwy. 104 in Sutherlands River. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the empty vehicle, a Nissan Rogue, fully engulfed in flames.
Shortly after, at approximately 1:55 a.m., officers received another call of a fire at an abandoned mill on Shores Rd. in Egerton. Fire services were already on scene. The building, which is believed to have been empty at the time of the fire, was fully engulfed.
Officers believe the two suspicious fires are related and continue to investigate.

July 23, 2024, Wolfville, Nova Scotia… Kings District RCMP is investigating multiple reports of suspicious circumstances in Wolfville.
The Wolfville RCMP Detachment has received five reports of a man looking into bedroom windows of females. The incidents have been concentrated in the Prospect St. area and remain under investigation.
Officers are appealing to the public to help identify the man. He is described as in his 20s, clean shaven, with light brown skin and curly brown hair. He wears round glasses.
Residents are encouraged to take precautionary measures, including locking unattended doors and windows, and to report any suspicious activity to the RCMP.

Cole Harbour RCMP is investigating the theft of a grey 2020 Honda Civic, NS: DUK-253 ( a photo of this type of car is attached). stolen on 2024-07-21 from Shrewsbury Rd in Cole Harbour, at around 0150AM. The attached photo is a person of interest in this investigation and other thefts in the area.
Residents in the area are advised NOT to leave valuables in their cars – especially in plain view and to lock their vehicles and homes. (Police files 2024-64365 and 2024-64949 refer).
