Police investigate incident of shots fired

December 30, 2020, Meteghan Station, Nova Scotia… On December 28 Meteghan RCMP received a report of bullet holes on the outside of a residence.

Police attended the residence on Du P’tit Moulin Rd. and found damage to the upper portion of the exterior of the residence, locating three bullet holes. Police collected evidence from the scene and the preliminary investigation indicates the damage to have occurred more than a month ago. No one was injured.

December 29, 2020, Elderbank,  Nova Scotia…Halifax District RCMP is asking for the public’s help to solve a suspicious fire at Camp Nedooae in Elderbank.

On Friday December 25 at approximately 9:30 p.m., police and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency were called to Scouts Canada Camp Nedooae in Elderbank where several structures were on fire. The structures incurred extensive damage, however, there were no injuries. The fire is believed to be suspicious and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth this morning.

At approximately 6:15 a.m. police responded to a robbery in progress at the Fast Fuel gas bar located at 543 Portland Street in Dartmouth. A man entered the store and demanded cash. The man then fled the store on foot with an amount of cash. No weapon was seen and there were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his 40s, approximately 5’7″ tall. At the time he was wearing a black jacket with a hood, dark blue pants, black sneakers, black winter hat and black mask.

The investigation is in the early stages and investigators are asking anyone with information about the suspect or video from the area to contact police at 902-490-5016. Police asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an assault suspect

Halifax Regional Police is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in relation to an assault that occurred on a Halifax Transit bus.

On September 21 at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a dispute that had occurred on a Halifax Transit bus that was stopped in the area of the 5500 block of Spring Garden Road in Halifax. While on scene, police received information that a woman had been assaulted by another woman who was not known to her. The suspect left the area and was not located.

The suspect is described as a white woman in her 20s, approximately 5’5” with a thin build and long blonde hair. At the time she was wearing a pink sweater and grey pants.

Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking for the public’s assistance with the investigation of the homicide of Donald Scott McKay.

At approximately 3:10 p.m. on December 8 Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint at 5578 Morris Street in Halifax. Officers located 61-year-old Donald Scott McKay of Halifax inside the residence suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officers also located James Alfred Maclean with injuries inside the residence and he was transported to hospital for medical treatment. He has been charged with second degree murder in relation to Donald’s death.

Investigators are interested in speaking to a person who may have interacted with Maclean on the south side of Morris Street close to the intersection with Birmingham at approximately 3 p.m. The person had a thin build and was wearing a gray hooded jacket, black pants, dress shoes, a dark toque and a non-surgical mask.

This potential witness is not a suspect in the homicide, and we are not seeking additional suspects at this time.

December 15, 2020, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… The Integrated RCMP/HRP General Investigation Section (GIS) of the Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a report of shots fired that occurred last evening in Lower Sackville.

At approximately 5:10 p.m. on December 14, Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at a vehicle in the 300 block of Sackville Dr. Both the suspect and victim vehicles departed the scene prior to police arriving. The victim was identified and no one was hurt. The suspect vehicle is described as a blue sedan.

It is believed that the victim and the suspect are known to each other. The investigation is ongoing and being led by RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

December 14, 2020, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia…The RCMP’s South West Nova Major Crime Unit is asking for public help to identify two vehicles in relation to the murder of Colton Cook.

On September 29, 2020, Colton Cook’s identifiable remains were located near the intersection of Saunders Rd. and Raynardton Rd. in South Ohio, after partial remains were found on September 27 near a burned vehicle.

On September 26, two vehicles were seen in the South Ohio area and investigators believe that the drivers of either vehicle may be able to assist in the homicide investigation.

The first vehicle is a dark grey single cab Ford Ranger. The second vehicle is an older model small silver sedan with a black rear bumper.

The RCMP’s Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit is continuing with the investigation with the assistance of Yarmouth Town and Rural Detachments.
