May 17, 2021, Terrance Bay, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP has charged a 34-year-old Mill Cove man following an altercation in Terrance Bay.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on May 16, Halifax District RCMP received a 911 call about an altercation occurring on Terrance Bay Rd. in Terrance Bay. The investigation revealed that two fishermen had observed a vehicle driving erratically towards the area where they had set their nets. When they arrived at their nets, the two men were confronted by seven men in three vehicles. The fishermen were threatened and told to hand over their catch. 

Armed with weapons, the men blocked the fishermen to prevent them from leaving. They then had the fishermen drive to another area nearby where they had other nets set. The men left, and the fishermen were able to call police. One fisherman was injured during the incident after being struck with a weapon. He suffered minor physical injuries.

A short time later, Halifax Regional Police located one of the vehicles involved in Halifax, and the driver was arrested without incident. 

Jared Luben Young remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today. He is charged with Kidnapping, Robbery, Forcible Confinement, Uttering Threats, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Theft Over $5,000.

May 14, 2021, Port Hastings, N.S…Port Hawkesbury RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in relation to a break-in and theft investigation at a local gas station.

On May 4, 2021, at approximately 5:30 a.m., a man broke into the Canadian Tire Gas Bar in Port Hastings by gaining access through the main door. The man proceeded to the cash register area and stole a large quantity of cigarette packages. The man is described as white with brown hair, and was wearing a camo ball hat, grey t-shirt, blue pants and sneakers.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of gun shots with a male on injured in at the intersection of Broad Street and Farrington Way, Bedford.  Multiple officers responded to the scene and located an adult male with life threatening injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.  A number of officers are currently on scene, including K-9 and members of the Emergency Response Team.  There is no suspect description at this time. 

Investigators with the General Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation, which is in the early stages.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of gun shots with a male on injured in the area of Alderney Landing, Dartmouth.  Multiple officers responded to the scene and located an adult male with life threatening injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.  A number of officers are currently on scene, including K-9 and members of the Emergency Response Team and EHS paramedics.

Officers are actively searching for the suspect.  There is no suspect description at this time.  We ask that people avoid the area.  The investigation is in its preliminary stages and further information will be released when available.

Officers have located & arrested three adults and are not looking for any other suspects.

On Feb 27, 2021 someone broke into 117 Sackville Dr, a single dwelling unit (house) ,the home is not visible from the street, it is behind Auction Direct car sales.  The unknown male assaulted the home owner and knocked him unconscious.  The victim woke to find the bottom floor of the house on fire and he escaped from a second floor window.  Nothing was taken and no motive is known.

Today marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the murder of David Robert Boyko and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On May 12, 1996 at approximately 1:25 p.m., police received a report of an injured man at the end of Morris Road in the Burnside Industrial Park in Dartmouth. David was found by a pedestrian who had been walking in the area. He had succumbed to injuries from a gunshot wound.

David was a resident of Manitoba at the time of his death. He was last seen on May 12 at 6 a.m. leaving a hotel in Dartmouth.

Investigators believe that there are people who have information that could help solve his murder. We hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.

May 12, 2021, Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia… At approximately 5 p.m. yesterday evening, Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint of an armed robbery at a business on Highway 7 in Sheet Harbour.

Upon arrival, RCMP confirmed that a man had entered the store armed with a gun and demanded drugs from an employee. The man left the store on foot with narcotics. No one was injured as a result of this incident.

The man was described as being just under 6 feet tall, of slender build, between the ages of 20 to 30 years old. He was wearing blue coveralls, a black mask, white gloves, a blue and white neck covering, and black sunglasses, and was carrying a green Sobeys bag.

May 11, 2021, Grande Anse, Nova Scotia…Richmond County District RCMP is investigating a theft of catalytic converters that occurred between May 3 and May 4 at a scrap yard on Black River Rd. in Grande Anse.

The catalytic converters were cut off and stolen from six different vehicles. A saw blade was located near one of the vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing, and RCMP Forensic Identification Services are assisting the Richmond County District RCMP.

Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking for the public’s assistance identifying a potential witness in the 2020 homicide of Terrance Thomas Dixon.

On June 29, 2020 at approximately 10:20 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a stabbing that had just occurred at the Esso gas station at 6020 Young Street in Halifax. A man approached Terrance, who was in his parked vehicle, and stabbed him. The suspects fled in a vehicle which was later found abandoned in close proximity to the incident.

Terrance sustained serious injuries and was transported by EHS to the QEII Health Sciences Centre for further treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on July 4, 2020. The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled Terrance’s death a homicide.

Investigators are interested in speaking to a man who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have information that could assist the investigation. The man is described as a white man with dark hair, wearing a dark blue t-shirt, light coloured ball cap and shorts, and sandals.

This potential witness is not a suspect in the homicide and investigators are not seeking additional suspects at this time.

Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division charged Paul Shane Miller and James Arthur Williams with first-degree murder and Ian Matthew Huskins with manslaughter in relation to Terrance’s murder.
