On June 21st, 2026 at 7:00 pm, CBRPS and CBRF responded to a 911 call to 48 Amelia Street, Sydney, NS. On arrival police noted a burning mattress outside the apartment building. Several occupants left prior to police and fire arrival. Witness in area noted a vehicle and an unknown male in the area prior to the fire. DFM and Police are currently investigating the matter as a suspicious fire.

On July 6th, 2026 at 4:18 am, CBRPS and CBRF responded to a 911 call to 51 Queen Street, Scotchtown, NS. 911 caller indicated he could smell smoke inside the apartment complex. 911 caller was noted as the lone occupant on the apartment complex. DFM and Police are currently investigating the matter as a suspicious fire.
