Nova Scotia Power/ Bell Aliant thefts In Halifax area

Police file 2025-20023: On February 10, 2025 at approximately 11:40 PM a trailer with two large rolls of aluminum wire were stolen near Upper Tantallon from a Nova Scotia Power depot.  The suspect(s) were driving an older model truck which was used to hook up the trailer containing the wire.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2005-2010 Chevy or GMC 2500, white or light grey in colour, with a light bar above the windshield.

Police file 2025-20137: Overnight between February 10 and February 11, 2025, approx. copper wire belonging to Bell Aliant was stolen from a power pole in the Prospect Bay Road area. 300 meters of communication cable was stolen resulting in a communications outage.

Police file 2025-19506:  Over the weekend of February 8 and 9, 2025, a break and enter occurred into the NS Power Generator Plant located at 116 Ruth Falls Road in Sheet Harbour. A significant amount of copper wire was stolen during this break and enter. 

It is the public that ends up paying for these theft through increased utility bills to cover the cost of such thefts.
