Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax yesterday.
On September 22 at approximately 5:45 p.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Sobeys located at 2651 Windsor Street. A man in a checkout lane stated he had a firearm, threatened the employee, and demanded money from the till. No firearm was seen, and the man fled the store when confronted by security.
The suspect then entered the Smoke Shop attached to Sobeys, once again threatening that he had a firearm and demanding the cashier give him money. The suspect fled the area on a bicycle with a quantity of money. No firearm was seen during the second incident, and neither of the employees were physically injured.
The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 40-years-old, with a slim build and brown hair. He was wearing a grey hooded shirt, blue jeans, a ball hat, and a medical face mask at the time of the incident.
