Distraction scam being done by couple in NS and NB

On May 30th, 2024, Woodstock NB Police Force received a complaint from a lady who had fallen victim to a “distraction scam” and in turn, had her debit card stolen and used with a substantial loss.
The victim was walking to her vehicle after shopping at a grocery store she was distracted by a male who pointed something unsafe on her car. While the male was distracting the victim at the rear of the vehicle, it is believed that another suspect entered the passenger side of the vehicle and stole cards from her wallet.

The card was since used for several large purchases over the next two days between Woodstock and Port Hawkesbury, Cape Breton, NS.
