West Hants District RCMP seeking public assistance in identifying person and vehicle

April 18, 2023, Newport Station, Nova Scotia…West Hants District RCMP is seeking public assistance in identifying a person and a vehicle after a suspicious incident in Newport Station this morning.

At approximately 9:40 a.m. this morning, West Hants District RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious incident on Hwy. 1 in Newport Station. RCMP officers learned that a woman driving a van approached a group of children walking on Hwy. 1. The woman stopped and asked the children if they wanted to get in her van to get out of the storm. The children continued walking and the woman then drove away.

The woman is described as being in her forties, wearing glasses and a ponytail. The van is described as a newer model van, grey/black in colour, with stickers in the back window. No license plate was obtained during the incident.

It was raining heavily in the area at the time due to a thunderstorm and RCMP officers are trying to identify the woman and her vehicle, so that they can speak with her.
