Weapon charges and seized handguns 

On August 27 at 2:14 p.m., officers responded to the 6000 block of Young Street in Halifax to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle, and the vehicle had fled the scene. Officers located a woman suffering from non-life threatening injuries and another car that was also hit by the run vehicle. Following a short investigation, the three occupants of the hit vehicle were arrested by officers. One of the occupants attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers at the scene.

Two loaded handguns, knives, a quantity of cocaine, cash and drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle.

The pedestrian was treated at the scene. The run vehicle is described as a gold colored SUV and it hasn’t been located.

24-year-old Nathaniel Dominic White of Halifax is being held in custody and is facing the following charges:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine
• Possession of weapon dangerous
• Possession of a firearm without license
• Possession of a loaded restricted firearm
• Possession of a firearm contrary to order
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Breach of probation x2
• Fail to comply with release order

26-year-old Decoda Levon White of Halifax is being held in custody and is facing the following charges:

• Resist Arrest
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• Possession of a firearm without license

• Possession of a loaded restricted firearm

• Unlawfully carrying a firearm

• Fail to comply with release order

20-year-old Mariam Al-Husseini of Halifax is being held in custody and is facing the following charges:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• Possession of a firearm without license
• Possession of a loaded restricted firearm
• Unlawfully carrying a firearm

Police charge man and request public assistance  

On August 25 at approximately 8:20 p.m., Halifax Regional Police officers responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle and were following GPS coordinates reported by a caller. Officers followed the vehicle to Waterloo Street and Fraser Street in Halifax when the driver put the vehicle in reverse and struck the police vehicle, which was following close behind. While Nova Scotia Serious Incident Team (SiRT) is investigating the incident pertaining to HRP officers’ actions, HRP is conducting an investigation into other violations committed by the driver.

Kevin Joseph Brezuk, 30, of Reserve Mines, was arrested and appeared in court today to face the following charges:

• Motor vehicle theft
• Dangerous operation of a conveyance
• Flight from peace officer
• Assault a peace officer x3
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
• Assault with a weapon x3
• Mischief endangering life x2
• Operation of a conveyance while prohibited

Police are asking members of the public to come forward who have any information on this dangerous driving incident that occurred on August 25 between 7:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.. The pick-up truck was driving inbound toward Halifax from the Bedford area. The vehicle drove along the Bedford Highway, Fairview Overpass, Joseph Howe Drive, Kempt Road, Robie Street and in South End Halifax.

The vehicle is described as a large, white Ford F350 truck.

August 28th

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a robbery that occurred this morning in Halifax.

At approximately 4:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Irving Service Station located at 5450 Inglis Street in Halifax. A man entered the service station store and presented a knife. The man fled the store with an amount of money and cigarettes. No one was physically injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’8” and 165 lbs. He was wearing a green hoodie with red trim around the hood and brown cut-off shorts.

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the murder of Michael Leonard Hamm and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.
On August 28, 1985, at 7:44 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Windsor and Duncan streets in Halifax and found Michael Hamm deceased, having been fatally shot.

The investigation revealed Michael had left his Tower Road residence prior to the shooting. He was walking south on Windsor Street near Duncan Street when a suspect ran up to him and shot him before fleeing the area.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Michael’s murder and we hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.

Case #99-8380

Today marks the 21st anniversary of the murder of Jason MacCullough and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

Jason’s body was found on a paved path between 100 and 104 Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 1999. There is no indication the 19-year-old was involved in any type of criminal activity, leading investigators to believe his death was a random act.

Investigators believe Jason was passing through the area while walking home and used the well-known short-cut between the buildings. Investigators believe there were several people in the area at the time of the homicide and strongly believe there were witnesses to the crime. Investigators continue to urge these people to come forward and report anything that they remember about this day, no matter how small the detail. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.

Enfield RCMP are investigating a complaint of a Theft of a side-by-side (Quad) 2016 CF Moto 800
that occurred Between June 30th and July 21st, 2020. It was stolen from a nearby camp on Douglas Road in the Rawdon area.
It is Black, Turquoise with some white and has turquoise rims. NS Licence plate number is JC449.

Halifax Regional Police arrest suspect in Dartmouth Robbery

At approximately 8:25 p.m. on August 24th, 2020 Halifax Regional Police received a report of a Robbery that had just occurred at the McDonald’s restaurant at 25 Nantucket Avenue, Dartmouth. A lone male entered the business and demanded money, a weapon was not observed. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and the cash drawer. The suspect was described as a male in his 40’s, approximately 5’5 with black hair. He was wearing a black baseball hat, sunglasses, black shorts and a black mask.  A Halifax Regional Police K9 unit attended the area and with the assistance of patrol members the suspect was located nearby and arrested, items relating to the robbery were recovered. The Forensic Identification Section is processing the scene for evidence.

A 48-year-old Dartmouth man remains in custody and will be charged with Robbery contrary to section 343 of the Criminal Code. He will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
