Halifax health care practitioner facing additional sexual assault charges

Investigators with the Sexual Assault Investigative Team (SAIT) of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged a Halifax health care practitioner in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in 2017.

On October 15, 2019, a woman contacted police to report that she had been sexually assaulted in May 2017 at the Qing Li Chinese Therapy Clinic located at 206-1535 Dresden Row in Halifax.

As a result of the investigation, SAIT members arrested a man at Police Headquarters on Gottingen Street in Halifax at approximately 12 p.m. yesterday. Xiao Han Li, 32, of Halifax, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face one count of sexual assault.

Out of respect and concern for the victim’s privacy and wellbeing, we are not releasing any further details regarding the incident. Police file 2019-147699 refers.
